Alyssa's POV.
It was late in the afternoon when Shannon arrived. All day I had been expecting her ass and she decided to come when I was balanced and watching Brooklyn nine-nine in my room.
Now she was eating up all my snacks.
I grabbed the bag of cheetos from her. "I did not invite you here to eat my cheetos."
She pouted. "You didn't even ask about how I've been faring since you left".
"I thought we talked about that yesterday on the phone,"
"Did we? Guess I forgot".
She was acting really weird. "So what did you want to tell me about Rowan?" I asked, gaining her attention.
"Oh, about that, I was just acting dramatic as usual. There's no news". She smiled.
Yeah, she's definitely lying through her teeth. There is no way Shannon will willingly accept or even call herself dramatic.
"You're lying". I voiced out, narrowing my eyes at her.
She squinted. "About what?"
"That's what I want to find out". I said crawling closer to her. I unlocked my phone and shone the flashlight directly on her face. "Tell me what's up with Rowan". I demanded.
She rolled her eyes under the light and pushed my phone away.
"Did something bad happen to her?"
"No! Why are you so pessimistic?"
"I'm not, I'm just guessing," I replied in defense, then sighed. "You know what? Let's drop it and I'll ask Ro myself tomorrow at school".
"You can't!" she shouted, making motions to snatch my phone.
I raised an eyebrow. "Why should I listen to you?"
Shannon sighed. "Something did happen. Thing is, you know how Rowan is. She'd want to tell you herself and she definitely wouldn't want you worrying".
"You're making me more anxious, Shan".
"Just ring her up. But don't let her know I'm here okay?"
"Fine". I nodded, Face timing Rowan. She popped unto my screen almost immediately. Her hair was quite messy and she was tucked under a blanket in a place where I'd been a million times since we met; her bedroom and she looked okay and happy.
So what did Shannon say happened to her?
"Hey Alyssa," she waved. I waved back, smiling.
"Rowan, how are you feeling?" I asked not too cautiously. Shannon kicked my foot from her side, giving me a be subtle look. I coughed to hide the sudden pain and returned to Rowan who was already talking.
"...you home yet?"
"Mhhm, yeah I am. I returned yesterday".
She gasped. "And you didn't think to call me?"
"I wanted to I promise, but I was really tired. Jetlag". I explained, sending Shannon a glare.
"I know, I was just kidding," laughed Rowan. She turned her attention to a person who I assume walked into her room.
"You've got company?"
"Oh yeah, Mikaela's here. Say hi, Mik". There was some shuffling, until Mikaela appeared on the screen, hair up in a bun also smiling.
"Hi Lyssa. How was your extended leave?" she asked and I'd almost forgotten how her accented voice sounded like.
"I've had better vacations," I joked.
