Alyssa's P.O.V
"The plane's leaving in an hour kids, so hurry up!" yelled mom.
I picked up my packed suitcase and a little travelling bag, made sure my room was intact and gave myself a once over before exiting in satisfaction. Mom didn't even spare me a glance, just directed me to go load my luggage in the car.
I think she's still mad at me for all the crap I caused. Can't blame her. I did as she wanted and walked back in to grab myself a drink from the kitchen.
"Ivan, honey we cannot miss that flight!" she yelled once more as I walked out.
"Alright, I'm here already," Ivan huffed, pulling along two suitcases behind him, obviously dying from the weight.
"Don't just stand there, come help me."
"Not with that attitude,"
Mom frowned at us both. "Alyssa, go help your brother and Ivan don't be rude."
"You pack and act like a girl," I teased, hauling the suitcase outside and locking the door behind him.
After making sure that nothing was left behind and we were all intact, we got on the road. Of course Ivan had to make a big deal about sitting up front, to which I allowed mainly because we didn't have much time and it was just a short drive to the airport.
I texted Shannon and Rowan of my sudden departure. It really was unexpected. Apparently mom had taken a two week break from work in order to spend quality family time with Ivan and I. So oddly enough, my week suspension couldn't have come at a better time. Ivan also took a two day leave from school.
Turns out I'll miss Faye's party; probably the best she will ever throw. A part of me was grateful for that little fact because something awful always happens in parties like that. It's so inevitable and whatever it would be this time be the talk of our school for weeks. I'd rather be on the safe side for once.
The drive to the airport was about 25 minutes because the road was a bit free. When we got there as our luggage were being loaded, the flight attendant announced that our flight was scheduled to leave in the next four minutes, so we left for the plane.
A shrill sound went through the plane like an announcement was about to be made. Immediately, the air hostess came in.
"Please switch off all cellular devices, or enable the airplane mode, and do not forget to fasten your seat belts. Take off is in a minute. Thank you for flying with Emirates." Throughout, she maintained a wide smile, not even batting an eyelid. I'm sure she's said these exact same words so much, it's pre-stored into her memory now. Maybe I could be an air hostess; it's easy and I'd get paid to fly around the world just smiling to people.
Mom and Ivan sat a row ahead of me, while I picked a seat by the window. Almost forgetting, I put my phone on airplane mode and fastened my seat belt. A mocha skinned boy who looked about Ivan's age sat next to me. He had this curly black hair and a dimple.
And I only know this because he smiled up to me. He was really cute too.
"Hi, I'm Jaeden."
"Hey Jaeden, I'm Alyssa."
"Where's your destination?" he asked.
"The Bayford resort, in Pasadena" I replied. His face contorted into happiness.
"Hey me too! Along with my mom and brother that is."
"That's cool," I nodded, more relaxed and relieved that I didn't have an annoying child, or an old creeper sitting by me. With my headphones set, I sunk deeper into the chair, getting into a comfortable position.
