17 - Waiting

"Still no luck." Mom whispered, I could tell that she's crying.

"Don't lose hope, Kim. She is gonna wake up. Malakas anak natin," Dad reassured her. He looks at me and smiled. "Bantayin mo ang ate mo, ha? We are going to the police station if they already caught the man responsible for this."

I just nodded and went back to reading manga. When they left I stopped reading and walked my way to the chair that was placed beside Niui's bed.

I heaved a sigh and started to talk to her. "Hey, retard. When I told you to never come back before you left... I didn't mean that and I take it back. You are so stupid to believe me. Wake up already. Everyone's waiting for you including me. It's kind of boring already. I don't have someone to annoy the shit out of them," I paused. "Don't make this hard for us. Zero always visits here, you know. I even punched the guy for you. I know that he has been causing you pain and to be honest? I don't like him."

I didn't really punch him. I just said that because maybe she'd wake up and strangle me to death since she loves Zero.

It broke my heart to see her this way. The machine is the only thing that's keeping her alive.

2 weeks later...

"Retard, wake up already. It's been two weeks and I'm dying because of boredom." I said. Someone chuckled from behind and I saw Zero coming in.

"Where are the others?" I ask.

"They didn't know I came here. They'll probably visit here tomorrow." he answered. He was now standing at Niui's side.

"When will she ever wake up?" he asked, sadness evident in his voice.

"I hope it would be soon."

He sat down at the bed. His going to get cheezy all over again.

"Niui, wake up already. Andito lang ako, oh. Kapag gumising ka, bibilhin kita ng maraming ice cream! Pangako 'yan." he said, trying to be chirpy.

I don't want to stay here. I can't stand the sight of a lovestruck guy. It just wants me to go puke forever.

"I'm gonna go out. I'll be back soon." I said. When I opened the door, I was startled to see a girl standing infront of me.

"Uhh... You a friend of my sister?" I ask.

"Sorry. I have the wrong room." she said then walked away. I just shrugged my shoulders and closed the door.

She somehow resembles someone. And I just can't figure out who.

One month later...

One word to describe my retard sister.

Horrible.

Niui got skinnier and even paler. She looks like Bella after giving birth to Renesmee. Yeah. Like an alien.

I looked at Zero who already had big eyebags and his hair was messy. He hadn't slept for what? 3 days? Nope. Probably 5 days.

"Prom's next week, Niui. Excited na akong pumunta dun with the girl I really love." he said, holding her hand and caressing her hair.

Someone knocked at the door. "I'll get it." I opened it and saw a guy. "Uhh. Who are you?"

I haven't seen him before. Maybe he lost his way.

"I'm Jason. I came here to see Niui." he replied.

"OK. Come in." I opened the door even wider. He stepped in but stopped when he heard Zero's voice.

"Sino 'yan, Rei-- What the hell are you doing here?!" Zero bellowed, his eyes flaring with anger.

"I came here to see her. Not to fight with you, Zero." the Jason guy said sternly.

"You're off limits here, Jason. Step back before I kick your sorry ass."

They are pissing me off! "If you want to kill each other, do it outside. Not here where Niui can hear you!" I yelled.

It seems like I hit the both of them right in their brains 'cause the tension around the room vanished.

"Come inside." I said. Zero grabbed my arm and I looked up at him. He was eyeing me not to let the Jason guy in.

"It's my decision to make someone come in or not," I said. He let go of my arm and just looked down. "Go home and rest, Zero. Just come back if you've gotten back your energy."

"No. Not when that guy's around."

"Don't be so possessive, Zero."

"You can't blame me. That guy is totally a pest in Niui's life."

"And you don't consider yourself a pest? You're even more than a pest, Zero." I spatted.

"Call me whatever you want but I'll never ever leave Niui's side." he said coldly then went back to Niui's side. He even pushed Jason out of the way.

I am gonna kick them out soon.

"Anong problema mo?!" Jason yelled.

"Yell and I will be the one to kick you out," I said coldly. I saw Zero smirked. This one also needs discipline. "You too, Zero. Stop smirking and behave."

"Yes, sir." they both said in unison. Zero went to sit beside Niui while Jason just stood there infront of her.

I went back to sit on the sofa and brought out another manga and red. This is to overcome the boredness and a little bit of sadness.

OK. Maybe not a little bit. Maybe a LOT of sadness.

"It's been a month, right?" Jason asked.

"Yeah. One month of waiting." I replied, not taking off my eyes at the manga.

"I'm sorry." I looked at him, confused.

"Sorry for what?" A question I wanted to ask but Zero beat me to it.

"Kung hindi ko siya pinapunta sa grocery store para isauli ang sweater sa'kin, hindi sana 'to mangyayari." regret was evident in his voice.

I looked at Zero who had a grim expression. It looks like he's about to kill someone right now.

I pity, Jason right now. He's like the prey and Zero's the predator. And I am the camera man! Nah. Just kidding.

"Tandaan mo 'to, Jason. 'Pag may mangyaring masama kay Niui, I am gonna hunt you down and make you feel sorry that you were even born in this world." Zero said, gravely. I didn't know he could be this scary.

"Mas gusto ko si Niui yung bubugbog sa'kin. Okay lang talaga kahit ikamatay ko na. It's my fault anyway." he said, smiling.

"You are one crazy bastard, Jason." I said. He then chuckled. I looked at Zero who was now staring at Niui and was holding her hand.

Someone's phone rang and I noticed that it was Jason's. He picked it up and answered it.

"Hello?...Oh?...Okay then...Bye." I only heard pieces of his conversation. He turned to face me and smiled. "Alis na ako."

"Go already. Your prescence makes me sick." Zero spatted but Jason ignored him.

"Bye, Niui!" he said and then he went out.

"Sa susunod na pumunta siya dito, hindi na siya makakaapak sa labas ng buhay." said Zero.

"Hey, retard. Wake up already before Zero kills someone." I said but then something happened that I didn't expect.

Her heart rate began decreasing.
