Chapter fourteen

Stephen's p.o.v.

Well today has been a busy day. I'm not talking about at school, because in my classes we didn't do a whole lot. I'm talking about what happened after school, well after Abby and Steve came home. Today I learnt that my adopted sister had cancer when she was younger and now it has came back. Daniel and I wouldn't even know that there was something wrong with Abby, if it wasn't for Steve. Now I know that some brothers are really protective of their younger sisters and some don't let their sister date one of their friends in case the relationship goes bad, but today was the day that Steve basically saved Abby's life, if it wasn't for Steve who knows how bad the outcome could've been. So if my best friend wants to date my sister I won't say no, because I now know that I'm making a great choice in letting her be with Steve. As soon as Abby met the rest of the guys, she got close with Steve and told him about her life leading up until the day that my family had adopted her. I can admit that Daniel and Is family did save Abby's life by adopting her.
We have been at the hospital for over an hour waiting to hear the results of the tests that Abby had to undergo. There's not a lot to do at a hospital, it's actually really boring, but I'm here with my family to be able to hear if Abby is okay, which we all have high hopes that she is. By that I mean that Abby has been fighting for her life ever sense she ended up in the Baxter house, which was when she was ten, she survived six painful years with that family, so we all know that she'll kick this cancer in the butt and recover and be back to her normal self.
A nurse started to walk in our direction she stopped in front of us.
"Are you guys all here for Abby Richter?" She asked.
"Yes," my mom said.
"I'm Julie, Abby's nurse while she's here," the nurse said.
"I'm Megan this is my husband Rick, our two sons Stephen and Daniel and their friend Steve Patenaude," my mom said.
"What relation is Steve to Abby?" Julie asked.
"He's one of her friends and her first and only boyfriend," I said.
"Okay that's real sweet," she said.
"So what room is Abby in?" My mom asked.
"Room 111," Julie said.
"What letter comes after the number?" I asked.
"B," Julie said.
"Okay." I said. Daniel, Steve, my mom and dad and I started to walk to Abby's room.

Abby's p.o.v.

There was a knock on my hospital door, my parents, my brothers and Steve walked into my room.
"How are you feeling Abby?" Daniel asked.
"Better then I was about an hour or two ago," I said.
"That's good that you're starting to get better," Stephen said.
"Yeah I'm not a hundred percent better yet, but the last time my nurse checked on me she said that I was showing some improvement since the time that I got here," I said.
"Abby how about when you're better and you've been out of the hospital for a week we go on that date?" Steve asked.
"I'd love to," I said.
"Yay," Steve said.
"If it wasn't for you Steve I'm not sure if I would still be alive and breathing right now so thanks a lot for saving my life," I said.
"You're welcome." he said. About ten minutes later my nurse came in my room to quickly check on me to make sure that I was okay.
"How's my favourite patient?" She asked.
"Pretty good," I said.
"Are you feeling any better?" She asked.
"Yes I'm feeling better then I felt when I first came here earlier," I said.
"That's good. Can I get you something?" She asked.
"Can I have some juice or water? And a fluffy pillow?" I asked.
"I can get you the fluffy pillow," she said, then asked, "what kind of juice would you like?"
"What kinds do you have?" I asked.
"We have pineapple, apple, orange and fruit punch," she said.
"Hmmm I think I'll take some apple juice," I said.
"Okay I'll go get you that fluffy pillow and that apple juice," she said.
"Thanks Julie," I said.
"You're welcome Abby." She said. She left the room which gave me some alone time with my brothers, my parents and Steve. The good news about my hospital room was that it wasn't a double room so I had the whole room to myself, which was perfect, because then when my parents, or my brothers along with their band mates or when my other family members wanted to come visit me, it would be more privet because I wouldn't have to worry about someone else hearing everything that we were saying to each other. Julie came back about ten minutes later with the fluffy pillow and the apple juice.
"Here you go Abby," she said.
"Thanks Julie," I said.
"Before I forget, you have some testing to go through tomorrow," she said.
"What kinds of testing?" My mom asked.
"Blood tests mostly," Julie said.
"Why blood tests?" My dad asked.
"Well because only blood tests will help us to determine what kind of cancer Abby has that way we can treat it the right way," Julie said.
"Okay," my parents said.
"I'll let you get some rest and I'll see you tomorrow morning at around eleven," she said.
"Okay night," I said.
"Goodnight Abby." She said. As soon as Julie left the room my parents said bye to me because they had to go home, that way my dad would be able to get a good sleep and be able to focus at work tomorrow, my mom also went home because she had to go to work tomorrow as well. However Stephen, Daniel and Steve were going to be staying at the hospital with me, because my parents weren't going to make Stephen and Daniel go to school, and Steve had already called his mom and asked if he could stay at the hospital with me, and she said that she had no problem with it, that might've been because tomorrow is Thursday and usually during the last two days of the week they don't do much at school, and also none of them had any tests to write tomorrow because if they did have a test they wouldn't be able to stay at the hospital with me and keep me company.
"Okay Abby your mom and I are going to be leaving now," my dad said.
"Okay," I said.
"We love you Abby," my parents both said.
"I love you guys too," I said.
"We'll be back tomorrow after we're both home from work," they said.
"Okay I'll see you guys tomorrow," I said.
"Goodnight Abby sweet dreams," they said.
"Goodnight mom and dad." I said. My parents left my room. But Daniel, Stephen and Steve stayed behind just like they said they would. I fell asleep at around eleven, that way I would be well rested for tomorrow for my blood tests that would be going on. It took me a while to finally fall asleep, I guess it was because I was so nervous about tomorrow morning.
