Chapter twenty eight

*Abby's p.o.v.*

The next morning when I woke up I grabbed a change of clothes and went to the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for the day. After about an hour I was ready and I went downstairs to where Steve was with his cousins.

"Good morning," I said.

"Good morning," Steve said.

"Good morning Abby," Maddie and Anna said.

"Good morning Maddie and Anna," I said.

"How'd you sleep?" Steve asked.

"Pretty good," I said.

"That's good," he said.

"Yes it is," I said, than asked, "would you like some of my help getting breakfast ready?"

"I'm so glad that you asked that, because Maddie and Anna want pancakes and they always complain that I don't make them right," Steve said.

"Because you don't," Maddie said.

"Than how am I supposed to make them?" He asked.

"You're supposed to make sure that they don't burn depending on how high you have the stove set to because you're supposed to turn them over that way they look the exact same on both sides," Maddie said.

"Pretty sure I do that," Steve muttered.

"I'll help you Steve and I'll even show you one of my tricks," I said.

"You would do that for me?" He asked.

"Yes because you're my boyfriend and after all you did save my life so I think that as a thank you I should show you some of my tricks for how I make pancakes that taste amazing," I said.

"Thank you," he said.

"You're welcome," I said, than asked, "shall we start making them?"

"Yes." He said. While Steve and I were starting to make pancakes, Maddie and Anna went into the living room to go and watch some TV or read for a bit. It took Steve and I about an hour until we had the pancakes all ready. I called Maddie and Anna to the kitchen. Steve and I served up breakfast and than sat down beside each other. I watched as Anna and Maddie took a bite of their pancakes.

"These are amazing," Anna said as soon as she as she was done chewing.

"Thank you," I said.

"How long have you been making pancakes?" Maddie asked.

"Pretty much since the age of nine my parents taught me," I said.

"Well they taste amazing, they must have been amazing cooks," Maddie said.

"The first job my mom had was as a pastry chief when she was still in high school and the first job that my dad had was working in the kitchen of one of his favourite restaurants when he was in college," I said.

"So you learnt to make amazing pancakes because of them?" Anna asked.

"Yeah I guess I did." I said. Soon breakfast was done. After breakfast was done I helped Steve clean up the dishes and put them away, while Maddie and Anna went upstairs to go and pack their things that way they would be ready to go as soon as their parents came to get them. I still have to pack up my things, but I'll likely do that after I finish helping Steve.

After I was done helping Steve and I had my things packed up my phone rang.

*phone convo*

"Hello," I said.

"Hello Abby," a voice said.

"Stephen," I said.

"How's it going?" He asked.

"Good," I said, than asked, "how about you?"

"That's good and I'm doing good as well," he said.

"That's good," I said.

"Mom and dad were wondering what time you would be home at?" He asked.

"I'm not too sure about that yet, I'll likely be home once Steve's parents come home and his cousins and aunt and uncle leave," I said.

"Okay," he said, than asked, "is Steve walking you home?"

"Yeah," I said.

"Okay well I guess I'll see you soon," he said.

"Yes you will," I said.

"Okay bye sis," he said.

"Bye bro," I said.

"I love you," he said.

"I love you too." I said. After we said bye to each other I hung up my phone.

A few hours later Steve's parents came home which resulted in his cousins going upstairs to quickly grab their things that way as soon as their parents wanted to leave they were ready to go.

As it turned out as soon as his parents and his aunt and uncle came through the door they all wanted something to drink and than his aunt and uncle wanted to leave that way they would be home at a decent hour. His cousins hugged me before they left, and his aunt and uncle also thanked me for helping Steve look after Maddie and Anna for the weekend.

Once his parents were settled and unpacked Steve and I started to walk to my house, that way I would also be home at a decent hour and my parents along with Stephen and Daniel wouldn't have to worry about where I was, because I would be at home with them enjoying a peaceful evening surrounded by family. Once we got to my house I rang the doorbell. Daniel opened the door and took my things out of Steve's arms, and set them on the floor. He then reached out and lightly took Chloe out of my arms as well.

"Thanks for the dog," he said.

"Actually she's my dog," I said.

"What's her name?" He asked.

"Chloe," I said.

"That's a beautiful name for a chihuahua," he said.

"I know it is," I said.

"Well I'm going to give you guys some alone time so come in when you're ready to Abby," he said.

"Okay." I said. Once the door closed it was just Steve and I alone on the front porch outside of the house that I live in.

"Thanks for having me over this weekend," I said.

"You're welcome," he said, than added, "thanks for your help," he said.

"You're welcome that was actually my first time helping someone out for a full weekend," I said.

"Well you did really good," he said.

"Why thank you," I said.

"You're welcome." He said.

"Well I guess this is goodbye until school tomorrow," I said.

"Yeah I guess it is, I'll miss you," he said.

"I'll miss you too," I said.

"Before I go I have something to say," he said.

"Okay what is it?" I asked.

"I love you Abby," he said.

"I love you too Steve." I said. As soon as I said it back to him he leaned in and slowly kissed me on the lips. It took me a second before I kissed him back. I swear a million sparks flew because of our kiss.

When I went back inside I had the biggest smile on my face. I honestly don't think that this smile will ever go away.
