Chapter six:

Steve's p.o.v.

Stephen and Daniel have an adopted sister named Abby which is short for Abigail, she's the same age as me and in the same grade as me. Abby just told me her life story from age ten until now, she told me about how her parents passed away, how she was living with her aunt and uncle until her uncle lost his job resulting in her aunt not being able to look after her, she told me how child services took her away and took her to a new house, she told me how that family that child services placed her in abused her and hurt her a lot, she told me that she reported the two worse things that happened to her which were getting her arm burned and her being punched out, she went on to tell me that child services came back and recused her by placing her with the head of child services and her husband and finally she told me that the Richter came by and that they decided to adopt her to save her from everything bad that has happened to her. As Abby was telling me all of this she had tears in her eyes. As soon as she was done talking about it I wrapped my arms around her and comforted her, she's still in my arms. I don't know why someone would do something like this to a girl like Abby. I promised Abby that the Baxter family wouldn't be back anytime soon and if they do come back than they will have to go through Stephen, Daniel, Dan, Kyle and I to get to Abby. I could tell that that made her feel a bit better, I know that she's still in pain because of everything that has happened to her.

"Steve," Abby said.

"Abby," I said.

"Thank you," she said.

"For what?" I asked.

"Listening to me complain about my terrible life from the time my parents passed away until the Richter family adopted me," I said.

"Don't worry about it it's okay, I'm just glad you told me as well," I said.

"I've learnt that it's not a good idea to keep it all to myself," she said.

"You're right it's not a good idea to keep something like that all to yourself," I said.

"I know, but I couldn't tell a lot of people about it because I have a hard time trusting people because something always goes wrong because it's always the wrong person or group of people that I trust," she said.

"Well I can assure you that Stephen, Daniel, Dan, Kyle and I are very trustworthy guys and would never judge you about anything," I said.

"I know that's why I plan on telling Kyle and Dan, but I don't know when," she said.

"Well why not today?" I asked.

"It's hard to tell the story more than once in one day because I'm worried that if I do that I might get nightmares about everything that happened," she said.

"I understand well we should go get something to eat," I said.

"Good thinking because I'm hungry," she said.

"Okay let's go." I said. I stood up and Abby stood up as well. We made our way to the kitchen to get some food to eat. I was surprised that Stephen and Daniel had made milkshakes and mini sandwiches. It was a really good lunch. Abby took her time, only taking a small sip of the milkshake and a small bite of the sandwich. It took Abby a while to eat but she was done about fifteen minutes later. We went back to the family room and watched a movie. Abby was in my arms during the movie. I had to admit that it felt nice to hold Abby in my arms and know that her brothers didn't mind it.
