Ruby
The day after Jaspers extra training I walked down the corridors in a hurry with my heart beating loudly in my ears.
Yesterday when Jasper had pleaded with me to let him help me and stay with him I never gave him an answer.
We had parted ways as little more than friends but he still hadn't got his answer and he probably didn't know what was happening next it how our relationship looks, neither do I.
The training earlier today had been embarrassing, we both kept sneaking glances at each other and I think some people noticed my tension today, tough they didn't understood why.
I hadn't talked to him since yesterday and I knew I should probably keep away from him, to keep him safe but I didn't leave the castle either tough I was a threat to anyone so I guess I wasn't to good at doing what was necessary.
The guards outside Jasper's room stood stiffly posted, as every ordinary guard did when I was nearby. I knew that they would go back to chatting and lazily lean against the walls as soon as I left but they at least kept their positions and would notice anyone passing so that's good enough for me.
They nodded to me when I got close and I respectfully nodded back before giving the doors a firm knock.
A couple of seconds later the doors open to reveal Jasper that was ready to go outside at his daily walk with the wolves.
He looked at me with a look he probably gave the other guards when they picked him up but he soon stared open mouthed at me as he noticed it was me standing right before him.
I couldn't keep the smirk from my face when I saw his reaction. "Are you ready for a walk Sir. Hamill?" I asked him teasingly and he immediately turned his head down with a mumbled "Yes" but it wasn't fast enough to hide the blush that crept up on his cheeks making my smile grow wider.
Three wolves stood right behind him. The black male and the white female wolf I had seen before. The little grey puppy was kept safely behind the older wolves wich made me smile.
"Then we go" I said and turned on my heels. When the guards tried to trail behind us I shock my head making they hesitantly stop.
I stumbled foe the third time over the little puppy that ran around and between my legs as I walked.
The other to wolves seemed wary of me but the little one was running around me like a maniac.
Jasper was quiet all way, he trudged before me as I let him lead the way. It seemed as he was going for the meadow in the forest where the other guards had been taking him, probably because he didn't knew a better place to go.
Jasper
Every time the puppy turned around and ran back to Ruby I flinched, the little wolf ran between her legs and made her stumble.
However she always caught her footing before she fell, I only waited for the moment her patience would brake and she would order the wolves dead.
The moment never came.
She seemed perfectly fine with the uncontrollable puppy running around her feet, she didn't mind tripping over and over again.
I was confused, every other adult would have been deeply annoyed by now and yelled at me to keep the 'Filthy Beasts' miles away but Ruby never did that.
She just followed me as I walked to the meadow where I had been taken before, I didn't really know what I was allowed to do so I decided to play it safe.
Especially as I was alone with the Royal Captain, the one that had kissed me and that I had kissed back.
I had no idea what she thought about me and I was so nervous it was no words to it.
Finally I spotted the meadow and uncounciously hurried on my steps to escape the unnerving silence.
Kaden and Sheila was wary of Ruby, they where wary of everyone but this time something was different. They had some weird...respect, for her.
They didn't glare and whenever she looked at them they would bend down their faces like...she was in charge.
When the trees disappeared behind us and we stood on the clear meadow the wolves all ran away and I stood completely still, uncertain of what to do.
Ruby walked past me to the other end of the meadow and leaned against the exact same tree as her father and other guards before that had leaned against.
Is that the tree of the guards or something? Why do everyone lean against that exact tree?
With nothing better to do I decided to challenge fate and walked up to her, she observed me quietly as I walked to her.
Then I sat down and leaned my back against the tree right beside her and her gaze tuned to the wolves running around and playing in the grass.
Then Little Wolf as the little puppy was called came speeding out if the grass and ran straight to Ruby.
It jumped up to her and the muddy paws left dirty marks on her pants. Startled I yelled at him to get down and he immediately sat down but still stared up at her with a wagging tail and the tongue hanging out at the side of his mouth.
I waited without breathing for the moment when Ruby would snap bit she never did, instead to my surprise, she crouched down and stroked his head.
He crawled closer to Ruby, sitting down in the open area between her legs as she crouched down and then he abruptly backed away and ran off again.
I stared shocked at her and she met my gaze. "He like you" I said in an amazed tone, then I realized what I had said and quickly averted my gaze to the grass at the ground.
"S-Sorry, I d-didnt mean it like no one would like you. I mean, a l-lot of people probably like you, i-i mean why wouldnt they. I j-just mean he like you. I don't mean it like-" I rambled on, sounding like an idiot.
Ruby laughed and I stopped talking, instead I stared down at my hands as I fiddled with my fingers nervously. Refusing to look up as I didn't want anyone to see my burning cheeks.
"It's okay, I get what you mean" she laughed and I uncertainty looked up to her but immediately looked away as I meet her staring gaze that made me blush even more.
"Why would they?" she asked and I frowned at her. What did she mean? When I looked up with a questioning glance she probably understood I didn't know what she was talking about.
"You said everyone probably liked me because there wasn't any reason for them to dislike me but why would they like me?" she asked.
I stared at her completely confused, what kind if question was that? For one second I forgot about my embarrassment as I saw her serious face, she really wanted to know.
