Jasper

I enjoyed the feeling of Ruby in my arms, no I loved it, perhaps a little to much.

She seemed happy as we twirled around in the room between other dancing pairs and her brown eyes were sparkling when she met my eyes.

The world around us disappeared and I weren't aware of anything but the girl in my arms.

The urge to hold her close finally got satisfied and I never wanted to leave this moment, I wanted to hold her in my arms forever.

And that's when I knew I would fight for her. I would try to win her heart, I wanted her in my life and I never wanted to let go.

The only problem was how I would do it.

Ruby

My mind was a blur as I danced with Jasper. I had come to this ball nervous and uncertain of what to do. Afraid of the meeting I would soon have with the scary king, I didn't know what I could wait of the Queen.

I hadn't met her personally, only seen her in a rush and what I knew was that she was extremely seductive and obviously found happiness in playing around. Not really the type I preferred but she wasn't manipulative or angry I hoped.

Jasper literally forced my attention to him, almost demanded me to focus on solely him and nothing else which I gladly did as I didn't had to think more if the meeting I would have soon.

I found pleasure in feeling his arms around me and though I knew he did nothing to protect me I felt completely safe in his arms, like no one could ever hurt me as long as he kept his arms secured around me.

My thoughts whirled around and I had to suppress the urge to raise on my toes and give him a peck in the lips, I had to hold back from resting my head against his chest or press myspef against him in content.

Though it didn't feel like it I knrlew we weren't alone and those urges wouldn't be accepted, besides I had no idea how he would react. I had no idea what Jasper thought of me and the thought of him and that he might not like me almost crushed me.

Jasper must have noticed the sudden wave of sorrow that washed over me as he held me tighter "Are you okay?" he asked and I nodded slowly. Not meeting his eyes.

He didn't seem to accept that as he gripped my chin and made me look at him, he smiled gently at me and opened his mouth to speak but something needed our attention.

The King and Queen of Magic was announced and everyone in the room watches as the royals swept into the room.

The king looked mysterious and frightening as usual and the Queen had pursed lips as she took in the room, the ball and the people.

I tensed up as I watched the pair walk up to dad and my stepmother they began talking and the room slowly began to return to how it has been just minutes ago but now people was watching the royals from two different kingdoms conversating and of course rumour began to spread.

Tje former atmosphere of the room had finally settled down since the royals appeared bit I still felt tense and worries about the king.

Jasper had noticed my sudden change of emotion and had lead me of the floor to see if I wanted to eat something but I hadn't felt better after eating anything and now I felt like throwing up what I had just eaten.

Jasper watched me worriedly but he didn't get any time to say anything as a guard appeared beside me and dragged me aside, leaving Jasper Aline at the table.

The guard found my arm and let his hands search for mine, I didn't drag away and soon felt something being placed in my hand.

I closed my fingers around the objects and stayed still when the regular guard leaned forward and whispered in my ear. "From The King of Magic" he whispered before he disappeared and left me with what I guessed was a message.

Before I had the chance to read the note Jasper appeared at my side again "Is everything alright?" he asked worriedly and I nodded, swallowing hard.

He watched me for a second then leaned forward, I shuddered as his warm breath fanned over my neck and his lips touched my ear "I don't believe you. I think you need fresh air to calm down" he said and carefully snaked an arm around my waist and began leading me to the doors.

He lead me outside and quiet guards on duty watched us but didn't say anything as he led me down a couple of corridors. I knew where we were going and followed him carefully as I didn't want any repeat of what had happened at the last ball.

He lead me outside and I sighed as a calm breeze damned over me and I could breath fresh air. It smelled of flowers and I welcomed the cold as it hit my face and began tugging at my hair.

Jasper lead me down a stone path and when he found a stone bench he sat me down, unlike the last time I let him do it if not a bit watchful. Ready to act if he tried something.

He didn't though, he just sat down beside me and watched the garden. He didn't say anything, didn't push me or try to snoop in business that he hadn't to do with.

After some time when I had cooled off I turned to him "Thank you" I said and he smiled at me.

"No problem, you seemed to need some time to relax" he said and I nodded thoughtfully

He turned away again and we sat in silence for awhile before I talked again "I'm sorry I haven't contacted you yet but I haven't found any tone for you yet" I said apologetically.

He turned to me again "It's okay, I suspected you would be busy" he said and gave me a reassuring smile. I smiled back at him.

Then I felt exhausted all by a sudden, I had overworked myself this week and I didn't deny my urge this time and instead let my body control my movements and laid my head on his shoulder this time.

He tensed up and I thought he would push me away but soon he softened and changed position do my head rested against his shoulder and my nose brushed against his throat.

I felt his adams apple bob as he swallowed and then he took one of my hands in his and stroked his thumb over the back of my hand.

I looked up at him only to see that he already looked at me, he quickly looked away but I still stared at him.

The urge to touch him was growing too strong and I couldn't look away "Jasper?" I asked him, I wanted him to look at me.

He turned back and looked down at me again this time o couldn't hold back and leaned forward, our faces was so close, my heart was hammering against my chest and butterflies fluttered in my stomach as I gently brushed my lips over his.

He tensed up but didn't move away so I gently pressed my lips against his, he didn't move.

Then I leaned back and he stared at me "I'm sorry, I couldn't hold back" I said and rose to my feet. He didn't move and I turned on my heels and left.

My heart beat painfully against my chest and the butterflies in my stomach hurt.

He hadn't turned away but he hasn't kissed me back either, what did that mean?
