Ruby
I waited eagerly for Jasper. Right now he was out with his wolves and then he would go don't to breakfast.
My schedule were pressed and I wouldn't get time to talk to him today, I couldn't really small talk at the training so this was the only time I could talk to him in privacy.
Not that I knew what I wanted to talk about I just had been finding myself wanting to talk to him, missing his company. That's strange because we don't even know each other and we had just spent half a day together at most so I didnt know why I felt so attached to him.
I had had a hard time concentrating at the training yesterday as my gaze had seemed to seek after him all the time.
He did seem to be in the upper class of the people, he were trained and fitted, flexible. Not like the others that thought they were best on everything but actually just had one skill.
My days had been packed with all my duties as the captain and while dealing with criminals and safety the time had been running away. I had been struggling to even get time to the training, if it kept going like this I would have to leave the job to and another trainer.
The thing is I loved to train and I liked to train with others helping them get better and develop in their skills. I loved to wear myself out and feel tired for the rest of the day.
The feeling of my aching muscles convinced me I had actually been useful that day and didn't just lay around.
Footsteps approached the corridor and I looked up in time to see Jasper and his guards turn the corner on their way to me, or his rooms more exactly.
My heart skipped a beat and I scolded myself for being so soft, what the hell was wrong with me? How could he make me feel like that, we barely even know each other.
He seemed surprised when he spotted me and the wolves by his sides seemed reluctant to near me, did they feel my superior wolf? Did they feel I was a monster?
"Captain?" one of the guards said. He seemed surprised and I were to, this wasn't something I would normally do.
"Is something wrong?" he asked as they got closer and Jasper watched me curiously.
I straightened up "No, not at all. I just want to change some words with Sir Hamill" I said and the guard blinked confused but bowed and stepped back.
Backing to the doors to Jaspers room I opened them and gestured him inside. He followed like in a trance, like he didn't really understood what was happening.
His wolves followed him closely and eyed me suspiciously. Once they were all in I stepped inside and closed the doors behind me.
His rooms didn't seemed to be much different to the state that he had gotten it.
He don't seem to have settled down really, though a few books were neatly stacked on top of each other at one of the tables.
The wolves placed themselves protectively in front of Jasper, effectively erasing any hope I had they didn't feel I were a monster.
I struggled for something to say as the silence began to grow awkward. "I have gotten complaints about the wolves howling" I said, the words pouring out of me as I didn't seem to find anything else to talk about.
He looked at me, he didn't seem surprised by this. I guess he's smart enough to figure out there would be complains.
"They usually don't do that" he said, ruffling the fur of the white wolf. "Do you know why they do that? Any way we can stop them?" I asked. Struggling to keep myself to the captain role and not letting myself being genuinely wondering.
He shrugged "They do that as a warning but I have no idea what they are warning me from" he said and I let out a breath of relief I didn't know I had taken.
He didn't know, he didn't know I'm a monster. I crouched down and held out one hand to the wolves, maybe I was wrong and they were only suspicious because I was a stranger?
They flinched back and narrowed this eyes on me, maybe I shouldn't let myself hope. "Any idea how to stop them from disturbing everyone? I'm afraid I can't let them stay if they keep on doing that" I said.
I felt guilty, they were probably just howling to warn everyone from me so it's mostly my fault they are howling.
"Maybe they would be calmer if they are more tired. They spend most of their days locked up in here, it might help" he said and I nodded.
"That could be arranged. After dinner the guards can follow you out, not everyday though as they have presses schedules and need to be elsewhere sometime" I said and his eyes seemed to light up by that offer.
Butterflies fluttered in my stomach as his smile made my knees go weak. Luckily I could cover my wobbly legs as I slumped to the floor, the black wolf had finally dared to sniff my hand and he now allowed me to pet him.
"As long as they get more time out of this room it will be enough to reduce their urge to howl" he said and I nodded.
I glanced at the clock and felt disappointed, I needed to go now and he needed to get food so I couldn't stay ant longer. Strangely I didn't want to leave him but I forced myself up again.
"I need to go now, duty calls" I said and turned on my heels, immediately leaving before I would change my mind.
Before he could answer I had left his rooms and the doors closed around me making me want to turn back. I didn't do that though, it wouldn't do any good at all.
