49. The Revealing

The dining hall today is quiet, the head table that's usually occupied by the kingdoms highest people stands empty.

The important persons in the council is having a meeting, with Ruby, after everything that has happened.

They discuss yesterday's matters and how to move on now that the kingdoms rulers is gone.

They discuss what happened right after the Queen died, what the king confessed and whether to fulfill his last wish.

The castles habitants is quiet, all thoughts about the competition gone, it has been cancelled now that things have been revealed and no one knows what is happening.

Yesterdays scenes keeps replaying in my mind over and over again as I try to accept the impossible.

When the Queen doesn't make a move Ruby relaxes from her stiff stance, ready to attack, and bacjs away from the now lifeless body.

I watch as the fur on the demon wolf slowly disappears into her skin and how the bones reform, the skin following the new forms. The transformation reveals a naked girl on her knees.

Ruby doesn't waste a moment and immediately crawls over to the King on the floor.

Her hands comes up to cover the bleeding wound on his chest as tears begins to prickle her eyes.

Guards, lords, and servants stands in shock as they silently admit the unavoidable, the King is going to die and the Queen has already fallen.

The king places a hand on Ruby's cheek as a tear drips onto his chin. He seems to be in agony, but not physical pain.

"Ruby" he says softly. Vaguely I register that he calls her by her real name and nothing else, my mind though Disney think further about this as the King lifts his other hand and gestures for the lords to come over.

The lords of the councilmen walks to him in a shocked state, not knowing how to act.

"I know I don't have much time left so it's time for me to tell you the truth" he says.

Another tear falls onto him, as Ruby sobs quietly, but he doesn't react to it.

"I have documents you are free to read, everything you doubt will be explained there but you need to hear this confession from me to wipe out all the doubts" he says weakly, the strength slowly leaving him.

Everyone waits in anticipation to hear his confession, what in those documents is so unbelievable that he need to confess it loudly himself for us to believe?

"First of all, I divorced Mahogany years ago and married my mate, a woman named Pyrope from a poor village. Everything is legally done and the papers and witnesses named on them is proof enough" he said, shocked gasps can be heard from people in the room but no one interrupts him. Too shocked to comprehend the meaning of his words.

"Secondly, you need to know that my son Carnelian isn't my firstborn child though he's, through law, my only illegimate child as I hadn't yet divorced Mahogany before my mate became pregnant" he continued, it dawned on us that his firstborn was illegitimate, born outside of the marriage.

"The mother to this child isn't alive but she has relatives that can confirm this" his weak voice rasped out.

"This might go against laws but my last wish is for my firstborn daughter to claim the throne after me. I'm making her my rightful heir though there's documents that gives the crown to my son, I can only hope for the council to make the right decision and choose whoever is fit for the throne and has the kingdoms best for his or hers heart" he continued.
