CHAPTER 6 - SECRETS
ISABELLE
“Alec, please show Aline to one of our spare bedrooms, and Izzy, you take Clary to her bedroom. Stay with her for a bit, she’s had quite the reaction to…” Maryse motioned to the recently resealed trap, now covered by a rug depicting the Angel Raziel raising out of Lake Lyn, sword in hand.Isabelle figured it would be unwise to disobey her mother at this point, she gathered her thoughts and grabbed Clary by the wrists.
Her eyes were raw and red, and her mascara was speared like a panda all around her eyes. She quietly drew Clary out of her chair, and whispered various reassurances along the way to the door.
Alec was still having trouble removing Aline from her seat, because she was clinging to the aged material so tightly that the entire chair began to get pulled instead.
Isabelle pulled open the large library door, only to have Church bolt out at top speed, nearly knocking Clary off her feet.
By the time Izzy had lead Clary half way to her room, the straps of her heels had rubbed at her feet so violently that her foot was now a disturbing red colour, and her dress had ridden up her thighs, despite her attempts at yanking it down. Half dragging, and half carrying Clary down the halls had also caused Isabelle to sweat lightly, and her hair was matted in large clumps of tangles and knots.
When they had finally reached Clary’s room, Isabelle forced open the door and practically threw Clary onto her bed, before slumping back in her desk chair.
“It was him,” Clary whispered after a moment, “Wasn’t it?” Isabelle suspected that she already knew the answer, so she didn’t answer immediately. Instead, Izzy just picked at her nails before getting up and sitting cross-legged on Clarys’ bed, directly across from her.
Her friends’ eyes seemed distant and distracted, and the way her mouth remained slightly open suggested that she had more to say.
“Go on.” Isabelle urged.
“I could tell it was him… when I was with him in the apartment, he said he would…” Clary replied, seeing to piece her knowledge together whilst she was speaking.
“He said he would cut off angels wings?” Izzy prompted, confused that Clary hadn’t told her Sebastians plans sooner.
“No,” Clary shook her head and laughed dryly. “He said… ‘If I cannot move heaven… I will raise hell.’ I guess this was… his way of saying he still intends to do it.”
“And there was me hoping that he got killed running from the battle,” Izzy replied, her hope deflating like a burst balloon, “Did he say anything else?”
