Being a father is honestly the best thing I've ever done....I never expected to be living the life I am...Taylor while I had feelings for her I never expected us to end up together let alone raising her son...our son...I didn't except to fall in love with him but when I held him I couldn't help it it was like this was where I was supposed to be Adam of course was nowhere to be found...when I decided I wanted to adopt Elijah and that I wanted to marry Taylor I went for it...I couldn't imagine not bring Elijah's father he brought so much joy and love to my life that I didn't realize I was missing...and now our little Riley Cash who was born December 28, 2017 sharing a birthday with his Uncle Jared...he favored me with the exception of his mother's blue eyes...it was a treat to be touring again with 2 children opting to enjoy it as much as possible since Elijah would start school come fall..I woke up to giggling and poking to my cheek..I opened my eyes to see Elijah dressed for the day "Hey Little Bear."
Elijah smiled "Get up daddy...Uncle J is here!"
I sat up rubbing my face as I looked around the hotel room "Where is your mama?"
He sat beside me "Talking to Uncle J."
I nodded "Alright...go in there daddy will be out in a second."
Elijah jumped off the bed and ran into the main room...
I got up and took a quick shower...I quickly got dressed and walked out "Coffee."
Taylor handed me a cup "So we're thinking of a day out you guys are off and we haven't had many days out as a family."
I nodded as I kissed her cheek "Sounds good..what about Riley?"
She smiled "I got the sling...Elijah will be glued to your side or Jared's and I do have to the stroller need be."
I nodded "Zoo?"
Elijah perked up "See bears daddy?"
I chuckled "Yeah we'll go see bears."
He grinned "Yes!"
Taylor laughed "He's yours."
I smiled softly "I gladly claim him.."
She laughed "Well when your ready we are."
Jared stood up "I succeeded in a successful feeding and burping...Baby Bear is full and happy..."
I laughed "You let him feed Riley?"
Taylor shrugged "I was getting Elijah ready Riley started to cry...he offered...even changed his diaper."
I laughed "Well looks like we got a sitter when needed."
Jared laughed "Uncle J and the boys...sounds like a good time right Eli?"
Elijah grinned "Yeah!"
Taylor just laughed "Lets go..."
I nodded and with that we left..i kept Elijah close to me while Taylor carried Riley...I must say nothing could beat the image of Jared pushing a stroller.....with Riley now sleeping in the stroller I stood watching my wife and son feeding the birds..I looked at Jared "You okay?"
Jared smiled "Spending the day with my brother and his beautiful family nothing could be better."
I nodded "I'm glad no difference is made between Eli and Riley."
He nodded "There is no difference dna is the only thing Shan..you're his father in every way that matters dna doesn't mean shit in this family you and I proof of that.."
I smiled "I know...csn you believe it I have 2 kids now..."
Jared nodded "Now you need a girl...this family needs a girl."
I laughed "I'm trying to talk her into another one especially with Elijah starting school but I don't think she'll agree till the tour slows down....plus you could go out and have a couple."
He nodded "I could...but ya know."
I chuckled "Yeah..."
Elijah giggled loudly "Daddy birdie is eating me!"
I looked over seeing a bird on his hand his whole face lit up with amusement "Who knew birds liked the taste of little bears."
Taylor laughed as the guy took the bird "Lets get some food."
I nodded and we left the soon finding a nice little kid friendly restaurant nearby after lunch we got ice cream while we sat I watched Jared running around this area with Elijah who was loving every moment..I looked at Taylor who was checking on Riley in the stroller "I love you."
Taylor looked at me with a smile "I love you too.."
I tucked a stray hair behind her ear "I mean it baby....these 4 1/2 years have been the best of my life...because of you...and the boys."
She smiled softly "Shannon."
I nodded with a smile "I know I know...but I'm being serious I don't know what I'd without you...you love me unconditionally no questions asked."
Taylor leaned over pressing a light kiss to my lips "I love you...I love how big your heart is...I love how much you love your mom and Jared...I love how amazing of a father you are to Elijah and Riley...I love how you put everything into each performance...I love how you are with your fans...you have the most beautiful soul of any person I've ever met and I'm so honored that I get to spend the rest of my life loving you."
I smiled softly "How the hell did I get you?"
She let her hand rest over my heart "What's in here is how...you opened your heart to me when you didn't have to...you took on my problems a child that wasn't yours...you loved us enough to make us a family...you own my heart and soul Shannon...you and our boys.."
I closed the space between us pressing a kiss to her lips only to be broke apart by my brother "Sorry what?"
Jared chuckled holding a sleeping Elijah "I say it's time to head back...and I was joking you know."
I chuckled as I stood up "Oh shut up Jared lets go.."
He laughed "Yeah..."
I smiled as we went back to the car...today was amazing day and honestly I loved every second
