"You can't do anything about it and that's final," the secretary said. "You must know by now that you're never going to choose anything for your own."

"Why don't you just kill me?" Rosé gritted her teeth. "Or maybe lock me up in a prison?"

"You're lucky you're not," the secretary said. "You should know that once you grow up surrounded by papers, riches and companies, you'll have a huge responsibility."

"I never chose this life!" She yelled in frustration.

"No one does," the secretary looked at her. "You must understand, you love your family, don't you?"

Rosé softened a little and looked at her.

"As much as i hate them, i do," she sighed. "But i don't understand why i have to do this kind of thing."

"That's part of your existence," the secretary smiled, patting her dress. "Now, I'll give you forty five minutes to prepare. You have a dinner with the Jeon's."

"I'll make sure to give them a bad impression," Rosé smirked.

"You can try," the secretary said smugly before closing the door.

She looked at the black floral dress on her bed and sighed. A formal dinner with the Jeon's?

She contemplated on whether to wear the dress or search another that would make her look out of place. In the end, she wore the dress because Secretary Kim stripped her of the clothes she chose and made her wear what she's supposed to wear. Now, she's on her way to an expensive restaurant with Secretary Kim smiling in triumph.

"Will mom be there?" She asked which made them both surprised.

They grew really distant one day because she's always at work and they barely see each other. And it just happened that she didn't care at all and went on with her life.

"Of course," she replied.

"And dad?" She asked.

"He can't come, he's on a business trip," Secretary Kim said.

"That's what you said last week," Rosé sighed and turned to the window, unable to talk about them anymore.

They're always busy. 8 years old when she felt neglected by her own parents. She even wished they were a normal family and be happy. Go on dinners every sunday and have a vacation on summers. But no.

"Chaeyoung..."

"I'm not a martyr," she said coldly. "I don't need your sympathy."

She didn't intend to said it that way but she was too angry to care whether she hurt her.

Christmas and birthdays, they'd always open presents together. What happened? When occasions come, she'd just found gifts on the foot of her bed with cards.

The cold night wind hit her face making her shiver. Quickly running inside for warmth, she almost tripped but regained her posture in time for her mom to come into view. She grimaced at the encounter and avoided her gaze.
