°REMEMBER ME
Roseanne sat on the opposite chair laid across Daniel who was talking about his day but seemed she wasn't paying attention and he noticed. For the past few days, she had been so distant and have been spacing out all the time that it made him sad and questioned a lot of things.
"Rosé," he called, stopping his story of the human anatomy.
"You were saying?" She suddenly snapped put of her daze and looked at him.
He sighed, hiding his disappointment and pain but he wasn't able to do a very good job at it.
"You werent listening," he smiled, although not a happy one. "Forget it. What's the matter?"
"I'm sorry," she looked at him for a moment and looked away feeling guilt wash over her.
It suddenly dawned on her that she's hurting him, too. But what can she do if she was thinking of her fiancé?
Last night, she decided to finish things with Daniel since she know all three of them would get hurt if this continues. Maybe she realized something but did not want to admit it. She also doesn't want to to keep him to herself until she sorts things out because she knew everything's bound to fall apart.
"Daniel-" she started, wanting it to end painlessly but when it comes to emotions like this, I think there's no such things as painless.
"You're probably just exhausted since you've studying a lot," he saud, cutting her off cause some how, he knew, he knew what will she say. And maybe he doesn't want to hear it. "Should I take you home?"
She shook her head, choking back tears. And at that, he looked away and blinked to prevent himself from tearing up. He knew he couldn't stop what was coming.
"Where else do you want to go?" He smiled. He knew but he didn't want it to happen. And he tried to stop it.
"I want to stay a little bit longer and talk to you," she said. "Please."
"Can't it wait tomorrow?" He asked, avoiding cracking his voice. "I'm really tired Rosé, I'm sure you are, too."
"I'm sorry, she whimpered guiltily, looking down her hands. "But I can't keep thus up any longer."
And then, maybe in his moment of silence, he heard his heart breaking.
"I had a hunch from the start," he said and she looked at him. "The way you two laughed with each other that day we met, but I chose to ignore it since you had agreed to give me a chance and I didn't wanna blew it. I'm really happy when we started going out but I had my doubts."
"I wasn't wrong," he said. "You looked at each other affectionately even though you fight most of the time. But again, I wanted to trust you but these undeniable feelings coming out of you two was unmistakable."
"I really really like you Rosé," he said, unable to hold back the tear that fell from his eyes. He held up his hand when she grabbed a tissue to wipe it off but he did it with the back of his hands. "Do you? You do right? But not as much as you like Jungkook."
Tears of her own started to fall as once again weight put themselves behind her. "I never wanted to hurt you."
"Hey, don't cry," Daniel took her hands and forced a smile. "I'm fine. The last thing I want to see is you crying before we part ways."
"I really like you Daniel, honest," she sniffed. "But I don't think I can give you what you need, what you should have instead of me hurting you."
"Every second with you was worth it, I don't regret anything," he smiled genuinely but sadly. "The only thing I am regretting is that i, unawarely kept you from someone who makes you happy."
