°DINNER
The two made their way to the rectangular table in the middle to greet their parents.
"Where have you been?" Miss Jung asked.
"Entertaining myself," Rosé replied shortly as she sat down in front of her.
Jungkook sat down beside her and greeted the elders.
"Having conversations already?" Jungkook's mom, mrs. Kim, said in amused surprise. "I see."
"They must've met each other outside," Mrs Jung said looking at Rosé with questioning look.
"I should get acquainted with my wife, shouldn't I?" Jungkook smiled taking Rosé's and giving it a peck.
They looked at the young couple in awe except for Mrs Jung who was looking at them cautiously.
"Uh, yeah," Rosé lightly laughed and took her hand from his.
"So I think we didn't need persuasions," Mrs Kim said in time for the variety of dishes to be served.
Rosé had an idea and ate her pasta sloppily making her mom look at her in horror while the others maintained their look. She looked like a hungry girl who hadn't eaten for days with sauce all over her mouth and napkin.
"She's got an appetite," Mr. Jeon laughed, so did her grandpa.
"Roseanne," her mom chided.
"Aigoo, my wife is so clumsy," Jungkook chuckled and wiped her lips with tissue.
He signalled the waiter to get another table napkin for her and just smiled to the adults.
Mrs Kim just ate her salad and smiled.
"That won't work, dear," she said, making Miss Jung and her look at her.
"What do you mean, Mrs Kim?" Miss Jung asked.
"If i hadn't known better, she's trying to ruin our impression of her," she giggled. "I know you're not that kind of lady."
Rosé straightened her posture seeing that she can't do anything about the marriage now.
"I'm sorry," she apologized.
As the time went by, the adults have been talking about business, business and business. The both of them, her and Jungkook would talk from to time but would go eating again.
Jungkook admitted that she was pretty. He won't have any problems about the marriage, yet. He had considered it as a return for letting him do what he wants. He just have to deal with the girl and then still live his life before he takes over the company.
"So after the engagement, you two will be going straight away to your pent house and live together," Mrs Kim said.
Jungkook choked on his dessert hearing her while Rosé widened her eyes.
"But Mrs Kim," mrs Jung said. "Isn't it a bit early?"
"Nothing's wrong with that," Mrs Kim said. "They're engaged. And I'm sure twenty years is enough for you to spend your time with your daughter, Mrs Jung."
The two ladies looked at each other for a moment and looked away. Yeah twenty years minus twelve years.
"Is the pent house ready?" Her grandfather asked. "We could send furnitures."
"I suppose you could send some groceries," Mrs Kim said smiling. "All is ready except for those."
Rosé looked at her grandfather. It was like she had provoked them and is saying they have more power.
Mr. Park just smiled, "I shall send it tomorrow. When is the engagement?"
"Next month," Mrs Kim smiled.
Now it was Rosé's turn to choke on her drink.
"For the meantime, you'll be seeing each other in school," she said. "Since you're both in the same major, you can have dates after your classes. Or should we arrange your classes so you can be in the same homeroom and classes?"
"You've done enough, mom," Jungkool forced a smile. "I think Rosé also needs her space, the engagement party is next week I'm sure she needs it."
"But it would be wonderful," Mrs Kim said.
"Honey, I think Jungkook's right," Mr. Jeon said. "After all, they're still studying."
Jungkook felt relieved when his dad backed him up. He wouldn't want to see her always, too. Agreeing on their marriage is enough.
And then the rest were talks about the engagement which was Mrs Kim who was mostly talking filled with shrieks and flaunting their riches.
After dinner, the adults discussed more heated conversations making the youngers excuse themselves.
"I still can't believe you don't have any problem about the marriage," Rosé said, crossing her arms.
"I already told you my reasons," Jungkook sighed.
They sat on separate tables with refreshments served. They were bored to death with the business talk and it was a relief when they agreed about them leaving.
"Don't you have a girlfriend or something?" She asked. "I don't want anyone blocking my way saying you're her property or showing at my doorstep with threats or anyone making a deal with me to marry you but still have a secret relationship under the facade. That is bothersome."
"No, I don't have a girlfriend at the moment," he chuckled.
"We could've told them you had one so they can cancel the wedding," she said disappointed.
"I was twelve when i figured that i won't have the freedom of choosing my partner," he said. "So i didn't have serious relationships, flings yeah, but nothing else."
"So you never fell in love with anyone?" She asked.
"I did, when i was fourteen" he admits. "But i stopped falling further and it was great she moved to the states."
"Weird but okay. I really don't want anyone bothering me just because i'm going to marry you."
She really doesn't want anyone bothering her claiming that he's hers. She doesn't want any headache or dramas and just want her usual life. She already have a lot of things going on and doesn't want any more.
"How about you?"
"I liked somebody when I was seventeen," she said. "I don't have a chance with him, he's got a girlfriend already."
"Sad," Jungkook chuckled. "I bet she's prettier than you."
"Say all you want," she rolled her eyes.
"Don't worry, I'm more handsome than him," he said shamelessly.
"In your dreams!"
"Then I must be dreaming right now," he said.
"If you are, I want you to wake up," she smiled sadly. "You know we both do."
