°ON THE CORNER
Few words were exchanged as they sat in the living room, shoulders touching as they drink hot cocoa. It was raining but the silence was comfortable. Jungkook has a soft smile grazing his face as he subtly stares at her.
"It's awfully rainy today," Roseanne mutters, glancing at him. She chokes when she catches him staring and looks away, cheeks the shade of her mother's curtains.
He chuckles. "Are you cold?" He asks, leaning on the arm rest and puts down his mug.
She shakes her head. Silence envelopes them once again, and although they were unbothered by how things are, they never really talked about what happened a week ago. Nobody asked, and they were fine without it. But some words can't just be left unsaid.
"Why are we here again?" He asks, checking his watch for the nth time. "I still have to review for my coming test. It better be important."
Roseanne laughs at his exaggerated annoyed face and punches his arm, a habit she refuses to let go even though he expressed his pain verbally but no bite. Although complaining here and there from time to time, especially when she actually gets annoyed by something because apparently, their cat-dog relationship is still present.
"It'a not like you're actually studying," they both stand up to greet both their moms as Jungkook's rolls her eyes, having heard her son's complaint.
Jungkool groans. "I love you too mother," he says, displaying a bored look to annoy her. "And it's hereditary, so you can't put all the blame on me."
"Your dad would've been hurt to hear that," she retorts and Miss Jung coughs to subtly hide her amusement.
"Yeah mom, why do you always take the credit?" Jungkook grins. She grabs his ears and starts pulling it down as he yelps in agony. "You can't deny facts mom!"
She shakes her head, holding her temple when she lets go of him and muttering something between 'is this my son?' and 'he got it from his father'. Roseanne just laughs from the side and nudges him to stop.
"So, we've come to talk to you about the wedding," Miss Jung says, glancing at them. "We've decided to cancel it due to some unexpected problems."
Jungkook unconciously wraps his hands around Roseanne's. "You're breaking of the engagement?" Her head snaps to look at him, then back front trying to mask her expressions.
"No, heavens no," his mom answers, waving her hands prove him wrong. "It will just be moved to a different date, longer than the last."
Roseanne feels his hold relax. Miss Jung however, clears his throat and looks at her daughter. "I need to talk to you," she tells her. "Privately."
Miss Kim stands up and hits Jungkook's shoulders, urging him to do the same. He childishly glares at her before reluctantly standing up. He gets a reassuring smile in return before he leaves the room.
Roseanne, on the other hand, feels her stomach turn nervously. It's been so long before they talked properly. "Is something the matter?"
She opens her mouth then closes it again, drawing a deep breathe. "I'm sorry for not having been completely honest with you," she starts and Roseanne actually feels dizzy.
"I know."
"I don't know why I'm only saying this now," she purses her lips. "But I just want you to know, I love you Roseanne. I want what'a best for you, everything I do is for you."
She looks away. Of course.
"I hope you can forgive me, maybe not now, but still," she says, reaching for her hands. She flinches when their fingers touch but doesn't let go nonetheless. "I know I haven't been the best mom, and I'm sorry for that. I truly am."
