*Delilah's POV*

Today was absolutely awful.

Mars always told me that if I needed him or needed to get away from the home then I could go to his school. So I did.

I walked out of the office. Not knowing if he was in class or not. The counselor said it was his lunch time. So I could go see him. I walked outside to the lunch area and looked around.

This can't be a school. Too many kids.

I finally found his table. I clutched Brown Sugar close to me so he wouldn't be stolen and walked over to Mars' table.

First, Bryan saw me. Then I stopped. My eyes were starting to water because I already knew of the conversation we would have. Bryan pointed me out to Mars. The rest of his friends and a girl I've never seen before looked at me with confusion. Mars' eyes got big when he saw me.

He gestured for me to come and I ran over to him. My wavy brown hair in my face. He wrapped me in a hug and I started to cry even more. He told his friends he would be back and he took me into the hallways of the school.

From the looks of it. It was a hallway barely any people use. Considering it was cleaner than most.

"What she'd do?" He asked his eyes tearing up as he bent down to look me in the eyes. "She hit me again." I say looking down. "Where?" Mars demanded. I moved my hair behind my ear so I could show him my right cheek.

There was a bruise.

"S-She punched y-you?" Mars choked out words. I nodded my head. "I should've brought you." He sobbed wrapping me in another hug.

We sat there for a few minutes. Maybe more. I wasn't keeping track of how long but I could here the lunch bell ring and the shuffle of students feet on the other side of the wall. Very few students walked down this hall. One even asked if we were okay. Of course we're fine. We can handle things. We stayed there for a few moments and then Mars took me to his class.

As we walked through the door the teacher stopped her lesson. I hide the side of my face with my hair so no one could see. Both of our eyes as red as it could get.

"Mars, is everything okay?" The teacher asked looking scared. He shook his head. I held his hand tighter. "Do you wanna go see the counselors office?" She asked again. Mars still shook his head. He then led me to the back of the classroom and sat me down next to the girl I saw at his lunch table.

She was really pretty. I wonder if their dating or something.

I smiled at her when she looked to me. "Hi." She said softly. I gave her a bigger smile. The teacher went on with the lesson and she had said something about people working together.

As she spoke she pointed to words on the board. I didn't know what they said because I've never learned how to read. The only words I know are 'SunDrive Orphanage'.

I've never been to school before. Even when my parents were alive. They always homeschooled me because they thought I'd be bullied. And Mars and I can't find any books around the home, so I never learned.

All too soon a group of girls walked up to Mars. "Baby are you okay?!" A girl asked. She was wearing shorts and a red and white striped shirt. Her red hair was put into braids and she wore thick black glasses that covered her blue eyes and freckles.

Did she say 'baby'?!?! I don't like her already. Or maybe I should give her a chance. But she called him 'baby'! I should be the only girl in his life.

"Mars is fine. We can handle our own situations. Now if you could leave him alone. That would be appreciated." I said firmly. I never liked it when people took pity on us. They should mind their own business. But I'm never been that rude when telling someone.
