*Mars' POV*

I grabbed her arm before she could lay another punch on my sister. Adrianna was quick to jump to Delilah's side. Delilah lay there on the floor curled in a ball with Brown Sugar a foot away and on her precious face I could see two bruises start to form.

Melissa gave me a confused but angry look. "Stop hitting her!" I say firmly. She pulled her arm away. "Keep her in this house." Melissa bared her teeth and left out the room. I ran to Delilah's side. She was crying. I hugged her tightly and I could feel her flinch at the pain under my grip.

"I'll go get some ice." Adrianna said leaving the room in a rush. "My head hurts." Delilah said sobbing into my shirt. "I'm so sorry." I rocked back and forth. "I should've never let you come." "But if you let me stay, I would've been hit either way." She cried more. "It's gonna be okay." I said with tears rimming my eyes.

I grabbed Brown Sugar and gave him to Delilah. "I don't want to be here anymore, Mars." She cried. "Then we'll leave. Tonight. And I'll never leave your side again." I rocked back and forth. "I'm coming too." I looked behind me to see Adrianna standing in the door way with a ziplock bag full of ice. She came over.

"You guys can't be out there alone. And plus I have a car, we'll be able to get places faster." She said placing the ice gently on Delilah's face. She winced. I looked Adrianna in the eyes, "You'd really like to come?" She nodded. "We need to leave in the middle of the night. Melissa doesn't go to bed until around 10:00. Pack everything important. Well leave around 12:00." Delilah and I nodded in agreement.

We would leave the orphanage tonight.

"Mars...Mars." I felt someone shaking me. "Mars!" My eyes shot open. Adrianna. "C'mon get up. We need to leave." She was wearing dark clothes and her red JanSport backpack was slung over her shoulders. The plan. I got up. "Is Delilah up?" I whispered. "No, I'll wake her." Adrianna said walking over to Delilah.

I got up and walked over to the desk. I opened a drawer and there laid my blue JanSport backpack. We packed our bags earlier just in case. "Delilah, wake up." Adrianna shook Delilah awake. "What?" Delilah said wiping sleep out her eyes.

"Get your bag." Adrianna whispered. "Okay." She said grabbing Brown Sugar and getting her bag from the drawer. I picked up Delilah and we snuck out the orphanage.

We reached the black chevy and Adrianna unlocked the doors. I put Delilah in the back seat and Adrianna and I sat in the front. "We made it!" Delilah squealed. I looked at the orphanage. I feel happier. "Let's go." Adrianna said starting the car. We pulled out the parking lot and into the night.

Ready for whatever to come.
