*Mars' POV*
"I got paid...again." I looked down at my feet, ashamed of what I held. Adrianna looked at me. "You know you shouldn't be doing this." "Yes. I know. But...we need it to survive. And you know that." I said.
It had been around four days since we left the orphanage. Four days on the street. I thought I'd be okay. But things only got worse. On the second day I went with Buddy and a few of The Pack back to their hideout and they gave me a job I could keep if I wanted.
I technically already had this job. Thanks to my parents but now it's officially mine. For three days straight we've been doing things we shouldn't, just to get money. And quit frankly, Adrianna didn't like it. But she knew we needed this.
Yesterday, we dropped Delilah off at Hazel's house. I texted Hazel to keep her safe. It was the only option I had. I couldn't let Delilah roam around with Adrianna and I. It was dangerous. So as far as I know, Delilah lives with Hazel now.
But tonight was the night of the party. Daniella and Jamie's party to be exact. And from past knowledge, the whole school was coming. I felt scared. I knew the group would be there. What if they see me and start asking questions. It would be weird.
"Are you still going to that party?" Adrianna asked as I climbed in the car. I set the duffle bag in the back seat, too ashamed to see it and put on my seatbelt. "Yeah." I nodded.
Adrianna was gonna take me to her friend's house so I can "freshen up." "Are your friends going?" She asked stopping on the breaks too hard. "Yeah. Just I'm not sure I'll see them." I looked out the window.
"Oh okay." Adrianna frowned. She drove for a bit and we passed her college and down the street was her friend's house.
We walked up to the door when the door swung open. A tall guy wearing a red hoodie with black pants stood in the door way. "Hey!" He smiled opening the door more so he could let us in.
This guy looked about three years older than Adrianna. She said he was her age but I honestly don't know how I feel. Adrianna was like a sister. Even though she technically took care of me. I loved her like family.
"So is this Mars?" He asked. It was now I could realize he had a British accent. "Yep! Mars meet Charlie. Charlie meet Mars." Adrianna introduced us and we shook hands.
"So I heard your going to a party tonight. Going with a girl?" He laughed. I rolled my eyes at his comment but laughed along with him.
Thirty minutes later I was in Charlie's room and he was going through his clothes. "How about this?" He pulled out some jeans with a white shirt that had a print of a galaxy on the pocket. "Nice." I nodded. "Cool." He through it to me and I left to go try it on.
I stood in the bathroom looking at myself in the body length mirror prompted against the wall. I like how it looked on me. Not to formal. I smiled at myself. "You ready?" Adrianna said on the other side of the door with a knock.
I opened the door. "Yeah." I smiled. I felt confident. "Well then lets go." She smiled leading me to the living room where Charlie was waiting.
"You look nice man." Charlie nodded. "Thanks." I smiled. "You can keep the clothes by the way. I can get more." Charlie insisted.
"Well, we gotta go. The party's gonna start soon and I got classes." Adrianna said moving her hair out her face. "Alright." Charlie said hugging Adrianna. "See you around." Charlie said too me. With that Adrianna and I left to the party.
-------------------------------------------------------
"So do you wanna meet at McDonald's or out front?" Adrianna asked. She was dropping me off in front of Daniella's. "You can pick me up in front." I shrugged. I didn't really want to walk three blocks.
"Okay. I'm going to pick up Delilah. I'm not sure how responsible Hazel's brother is." Adrianna said biting her bottom lip. I rolled my eyes. "She'll be fine just tell her I said 'hi' and that I love her." "Alright. Have fun." Adrianna said as I closed the door.
As I walked up to front door I could hear the Chevy drive away. Daniella's house wasn't that big to be honest. Even though it was considered a mansion it was only the orphanage and probably Bryan's house put together.
From outside I could hear the music playing. I didn't know who the artist was but they were pretty good.
I opened the front door to reveal the once large house with marble pretty much everything was flooded with people. Colorful lights danced around the house. While people close together moved under the sprinkling lights.
Immediately some people started to look towards me. I couldn't hear but I knew they were talking about me. I walked around trying to avoid being pushed by all the people. I couldn't find anyone I knew.
Maybe they weren't here yet. Even through I missed my friends, I didn't really want to talk to them. Their company would be fine.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and it turnt me around. "Mars, I haven't seen you in forever. What happened?"
Unfortunately, I was standing face-to-face with Olivia. I couldn't find what words to say. "Wanna get something to drink?" She asked. I looked at her. Without an answer she dragged me to the kitchen.
"DanielLa had brought out some alcoholic beverages. But since I know you don't drink I convinced her to have punch too." Olivia smiled. I've never drank in my life. I'm just surprised she knew that.
"The punch is over here." Olivia hooked her arm in mine and leaded me to the punch. At this moment I realized that her breathe smelled of alcohol.
Since when does Olivia drink?
"So what's been up? I haven't seen you in awhile." Olivia said pouring a cup of punch and handing it to me. I still couldn't find words. She was so rude to Delilah. What do I even say?
"Mars?" Olivia said snapping me from my thoughts. I looked her in her eyes. They were filled with concern. I took a sip then a deep breathe and began to talk.
"I've been busy..." was all I could say. She gave me a puzzled look. "So busy you couldn't come to school?"
Ugh I hate lying.
"No, I was ditching. I ran away from the orphanage because I couldn't handle what was going on at school so I didn't want to come back. And another reason I left was because you were being rude to Delilah and I don't like that!" I said quit fast. She stared blankly at me. Processing what I said.
"What are you talking about me being rude to Delilah?" She said annoyed. "I know what you told Delilah when we were at the park. She told me!" I said making it clear what I said.
"Hey Babe." A guy said coming up to Olivia. He kissed her forehead. "Who's this?" The guy asked. At that moment it felt like I got shot. I dropped my cup and walked away. To angry to speak.
Behind me I could here Olivia shouting. "MARS! Let me explain!" I didn't want her to explain. I didn't want to see her or talk to her. I went outside in the backyard and sat on a bench.
I didn't want to talk to Olivia. After what she did. I didn't want to talk to anyone right now. I felt terrible. Everything's falling apart.
Why did I even come?
Update 2/18/19: Looking back on this chapter, I don't really like it.
