*Mars' POV*

The party. I had to get to Bryan's for the party. I looked at myself in the mirror. I wore black pants, a red long sleeve and red high tops. I hope Hazel likes it. I fixed my hair and looked in the mirror again.

I remember on the first day of school. I saw Hazel walk in the front doors of the school and immediately I felt something for her. I didn't know what is was but when I went to her house and I almost kissed her I knew that I loved her. It's just I'm not sure if she likes me back.

"Mars." My little sister, Delilah said throwing me out of concentration. "Do you have to go to this party?" Her eyes went wide just like mine would do. "Justin might tease me again." She frowned. I didn't like to leave Delilah by herself at the orphanage because this kid would make fun of her and Melissa, the boss of the orphanage, doesn't care. Every since our parents died. We've been jerked from place to place. I don't want her sad.

"I'm sorry but I have to go. My friends are counting on me." I brush her hair out her face. "What about Kaitlyn. She's your friend, right?" I ask. "No. Kaitlyn's been mean to me. But don't worry I have Brown Sugar." She hugged her stuffed bear. Delilah was given Brown Sugar when she was born and now she's 9. He was her best friend and I felt upset for her.

I hugged her. "It will be fine. If anything goes wrong just call me. Okay?" "Okay. Please be safe. I love you Mars." She squeezed my neck harder. She finally let go when I was called. "Mars! Your friend is waiting for you." Melissa called from the sitting area of the orphanage. "Alright. I'm leaving I love you." I kissed Delilah on her forehead and took on last look at the room. It was a hospital setting. Something I didn't like for Delilah. "MARS!" I heard Andrew shout. "Coming!" I shout as I leave the room.

Andrew and I walked to Bryan's which was a bit far so we left early so we could be on time. Turns out we're early. Bryan answered the door as we walked up to his house. I could walk around Bryan's house with my eyes closed. I've had to come here with Delilah a lot to escape the bad events that would happen to us at the orphanage. The whole group knew my situation except for Hazel. I'm scared that if I tell her the way I live she'll take pity on me and think lowly of me.

"Hey guys. How's everything Mars?" Bryan led us to his living room. "Everything's...okay." I trail off. He arched his eyebrow at me. He knew I was lying. We helped set up until Hazel came.

"Hi." I waved to Hazel, hoping she notices me. And as usual she does. Bryan showed her where to set up and she showed us the music she was gonna play. It was really good. I like how Hazel can dedicate herself to make this.  It makes me like her more. Soon enough the doorbell rang and entered the first guest. I didn't know them but all to soon many people started to come.
-------------------------------------------------------

"So do you wanna hang out some time soon?" Already 30 minutes into the party and Olivia was trying to talk to me. "I don't like you!" Is what I would've said if I wasn't so nice. Instead Bryan beat me to it. "Truth or Dare in the living room. Now!" His voice boomed throughout the house. Thank goodness! "Oh that was Bryan. Probably should get over there." I pointed towards the couches. "Oh. Alright." Olivia said playing with one of her braids.

Olivia followed me to the living room and I sat down behind Hazel, leaving Olivia in the crowd of students. Bryan explained the rules and I zoned out daydreaming about Hazel when I heard Andrew start talking. "I dare Olivia to..." he scanned the faces of the students until he landed on me. I immediately shook my head when I saw the grin on his face. No! Don't do this to me!!! "I dare Olivia to kiss Mars!" Andrew continued. Olivia squealed as she ran over to me.

Without warning she threw herself on me and connected our lips. I pushed her away and she left into the crowd. Hopefully Hazel wasn't mad. The game continued for another 5 minutes when I heard Hazel's name come up. "Hazel! I want you to kiss Bryan!" A very drunk Ryan giggled childishly. Hazel looked over to Bryan and Bryan had the biggest grin on his face. Bryan don't do it! I said trying to talk to him through my mind.

"Don't worry. I don't bite." Bryan said leaning closer to her. Hazel wouldn't kiss him, right? I saw her face turn red and right in front of me Bryan kissed her! He knew! I mean I didn't tell him. But he should know! He put his hand around her neck to deepen the kiss. Then he smiled! But the worse part that killed me was when she smiled back! I can't watch this.

I fled out the room with tears stinging my eyes. I just couldn't watch. I went outside to go sit on the porch. I sat there. Thinking about what just happened. The music, the smell of alcohol, the scene. Then I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked behind me hoping it was Hazel but it was Olivia. Great!

"Mars, are you okay?" She asked sitting next to me. "I'm fine." I say rubbing my eyes and looking away. "You can tell me, Mars. You can. I won't judge you. I'm here for you." She whispered in my ear soothingly. I can't tell her. "Mars..." she trailed off playing with the hem of her floral red dress. I couldn't take it. I had to tell someone. "Hazel..." I say turning to her. "Was it that she kissed Bryan?" She asked looking solemnly. I nodded my head.

We sat there together. In silence. I enjoyed her company for once. Just sitting with her made me feel happy because of her positive aura. Something I thought I would never say. "Mars, if Hazel can't see what a wonderful, smart, funny amazing guy you are. Then she's clearly not worth your time." Olivia said breaking the silence. That really topped it off. "Thank you, Olivia." I smiled weakly at her.

I sat there staring into her blue eyes and she stared back. Then without thinking. I kissed her. And she kissed me back. It lasted for about 7 seconds when we pulled apart. Our faces still close. She whispered to me, "I love you, Mars." I sat there, processing what she said.

"I love you too."
