*Hazel's POV*
Terrance and I had made it to the school after a few minutes of riding our skateboards. We came upon a big tan building. We went inside to get our schedules. Looking for the office I noticed a group of boys were staring at me and Terrance. Mainly at me and it kind of weirded me out. I looked at Terrance to make sure he didn't notice because I didn't want him beating up someone when we literally just got here.
Instead he said, "I found the office." He directed us toward it and we walked through the door. A lady at a reception desk greeted us and Terrance asked for our schedules. The lady said to leave our skateboards in the office and that we could pick them up after school so we did.
She gave us our schedules and out into the hallway we went. There were a lot of kids walking around. "Try to make friends with girls here please." Terrance pleaded. "I can't make any promises." I said. "Okay but I'll be watching. See you later." Terrance said walking off to somewhere I didn't know of.
I looked down at my schedule in the the middle of all the people. When I looked up I jumped back. "Sorry didn't mean to scare you." A boy with brown hair in a Ivy League hair cut and brown eyes was standing directly in front of me. He wore a bright toothy smile.
"It's okay." I reply taking a step back because he was a bit to close. "I'm Mars Neil by the way." He stuck out a hand. I took it. "And these are my friends Andrew Grant, Ryan Miranda, and Grant Vincent." He pointed to each of them in turns. I didn't notice them there at first.
"What's your name?" Mars asked. "My name's Hazel Deven." "Nice to meet you Hazel." Mars nodded. His brown eyes staring into mine. "So what are your classes?" Ryan said stepping in noticing how Mars was looking at me. I break away from his stare and hand Ryan my schedule.
"Mmmm." He said. It seemed like he was trying to remember something. After a short moment he looked at Andrew, "Drew, she has first period history with you, Grant she has science and advisory with you, Language Arts with Mars and she has math with me." He looked back at me with smile. "So you got class with all of us." Ryan handed me my schedule back. "Now I won't be lonely." I joke. They all laughed. I might actually make friends.
"So you got anyone to hang out with at lunch?" Andrew asked me. His blue eyes looked like electricity. "No. This is my first day." I said with a grin hoping they would ask me to sit with them. "Cool, where'd you move here from?" Andrew asked. "Tennessee. My family's house got destroyed in a fire. So we moved here. My grandparents live out here." I replied.
"Oh that really sucks. I'm sorry about your house. Must've been really hard. Was anyone hurt?" Mars said with sadness and concern in his eyes. "Um, well not badly. My little sister got burnt on her leg and I burnt my forearm. But besides that everything is fine." I turn my arm over to show them where I got burnt. "Looks like a two degree burn. Seems like it hurt." Ryan frowned. The boys were hovering over my arm to see the scar it left. Andrew turned my arm over and over. "Are you okay?" He finally asked. "Yeah I'm fine. I'm tough. I can handle a burn." I said.
Finally the bell rang signaling that we need to get to class. I tear my attention away from the boys to see everyone in the hallway staring at us! But why?!?!
Mars saw and shouts throughout the hallway, "Can't you people mind your own business? Get to class!" Everyone then began to walk around again. "Let's go Hazel we got to go learn about dead people!" Andrew chuckled. I let out a laugh myself. "See you guys at lunch." Mars said. "Nice meeting you Hazel." "You too, Mars." I smiled.
Andrew directed me to history and we sat in the back. "This is history with Mr. Gregory. He can get super boring sometimes. But mostly we watch videos about the topic we're learning about." Andrew whispered. "Nice." I smirk. The bell rang as the last few people flooded into the classroom. Mr. Gregory stood in front of the board.
