Corey walks into the house and sets the McDonalds bag on the kitchen table. "I've never been in your house before, it's cute." Rachel says looking around the small apartment.
Corey puts a finger to his lips. "Shh, I think Sevyn is still sleeping." He says, walking into the living room. Sure enough Sevyn is knocked out on the couch, wrapped in two big blankets. She showed up yesterday afternoon just as he was getting ready to head over to her house to hang with Malcolm and Ty. She was sniffling and shivering in nothing but her pajamas, her nose was red and she would have gotten frost bite if she had stayed outside any longer. She told Corey how she was just walking around the neighborhood trying to clear her mind and stop crying. She didn't want to go home, Jackson is in New York, Monica isn't talking to her and Shaun probably has some girl up in his bed. So coming to Corey was the next best thing.
After putting on one of Corey's hoodies and wrapping up in two blankets, Sevyn sat on the couch and told Corey everything that happened at home with her parents and brothers. She started crying again and Corey felt helpless as he consoled her. Soon she slumped against his shoulder and fell asleep. Her phone kept ringing and waking her up and every time she checked it she would start crying a little before drifting back to sleep, until Corey finally decided to put her phone on silent and let her sleep through the night. She didn't wake up even once, probably tired from her rough day. Either that or she didn't want to wake up and face reality.
"I feel so bad for her," Rachel says looking at Sevyn. "No one should have to go through something like that on Christmas."
"I know, that was heartless of her dad." Corey responds. He only told Rachel Sevyn's situation because he was supposed to pick her up and bring her with him to Malcolm and Ty's house, but he had to cancel that plan once Sevyn showed up looking like a depressed mess.
At the sound of voices, Sevyn shifts on the couch as her body slowly wakes up. Her eyes flutter open and she looks around at her surroundings feeling out of place and confused. She slowly sits up, letting the blankets fall off her shoulders as she takes in the unfamiliar living room.
"Morning!" Corey greets, making her jump and turn around.
"Corey?" She rubs her eyes. "What am I doing here?"
"Hiding from your family." Corey says walking over to sit on the couch with Rachel standing next to him. "You don't remember falling asleep here yesterday? It must have been that deep sleep you were in."
Sevyn thinks for a minute. "Oh yeah...I didn't mean to spend the night here though. Sorry,"
"Nah it's fine. My dad was too drunk to notice you." Corey shrugs.
Sevyn bobs her eyebrows and yawns again. That's when she notices the girl standing by Corey. "Oh...hi," she waves awkwardly.
Rachel smiles, "Hey, I'm Rachel."
"Sevyn," she replies glancing at Corey, then her eyes light up. "Ohhh you're Rachel his girlfriend! It's nice to finally meet you, thank you for finally cuffing his lonely butt." Sevyn teases and Rachel laughs causing Corey to roll his eyes.
"So are you hungry? We brought you breakfast from McDonalds." He says.
Sevyn shakes her head. "No, I'm not in the mood to eat anything." She says sadly as her parents pop into her mind. She glances at her phone that's blinking like crazy, indicating she has missed calls and texts. She pulls her legs up to her chest, pulling the blankets tighter around herself.
"How do you feel?" Corey asks.
"Sick," Sevyn replies before coughing. Her throat is sore and her nose feels stuffy but runny at the same time.
