When Sevyn first wakes up she panics because she doesn't recognize the room she's in. When she sees the soccer trophy on the desk and the Dunkin Donuts name tag on the floor she remembers that she's in Corey's room. She doesn't remember falling asleep though.
She turns over in the bed and comes in contact with Corey's torso. She tilts her head up to see that he's also fast asleep with his arm tucked behind his head, halfway sitting up and half way laying down. A sliver of caramel skin can be seen from where his shirt has risen up slightly, exposing the v shaped cuts near his hips. Sevyn forces herself to look away as she sits up and rubs her eyes. Brief pictures of the scary dream she just had flutter through her mind but she can't remember it all. All she knows is that it was enough to disturb her from her slumber.
Feeling thirsty, she quietly slips out of his bed and opens the door to his room. It creaks a little and she tries to silently maneuver out the room and shut the door again. She heads down the hall in need of something to quench her thirst. As she goes she takes her phone out of her pocket and sees that it's four-thirty in the afternoon. She had been asleep for two hours, which makes sense since she's been having restless nights due to nightmares.
The sound of a tv spikes her attention as she walks into the living room. Sitting on the couches is Corey's father and other men she doesn't recognize. She attempts to sneak past them into the kitchen but the sound of her footsteps makes his father turn around. His eyes land on her and he raises his thick eyebrows. "Sevyn Harris? Long time no see."
"Yeah I know," she says calmly as she looks over Corey's dad. He's gained some weight since the last time she's seen him which had to have been years ago. His facial hair is turning grey and his once full head of hair has started to thin out.
"What are you doing here?" He asks.
"Corey let me come over. He helped me babysit today and I guess we kind of crashed." She says, aware of the three other men's eyes on her. Corey's father simply nods and Sevyn shifts her weight from one foot to the other. "Is it ok if I get something to drink?"
"Yeah, there's apple juice in the fridge."
She nods and quickly walks into the kitchen to get away from the beady stares of the other grown men. She hasn't seen Corey's father since they were pre-teens and something about him just seems off. As she gets a cup from the dishwasher and opens the fridge, the door opens and a tall darkskin man walks in carrying bags of KFC.
"I've got food, is the game on yet?" He bellows, then notices the teenage girl standing near the fridge. "Oh hello," he says.
"Hi..." A weird feeling settles in Sevyn's stomach.
The man walks over to the living room entrance, "Yo, who's this chick in the kitchen belong to?" He asks. Sevyn makes a face feeling offended. First of all he could have just asked her name. And second of all what makes him think she belongs to anyone like she's a stray dog or something?
"That's Sevyn, Corey's friend." His dad calls back. The man's head almost snaps as he turns to look at Sevyn. "Oh, you're Sevyn." He says it like he knows her. She looks him up and down confused. The man flashes his gleaming teeth at her. "I'm Raymond,"
"Oh..." She says, tapping her nails on the cup she's holding. The name sounds familiar but she cant place it.
Raymond nods his head, letting his eyes roam her body. "So you're Cordell's new girlfriend huh?"
"N-no, we're just friends."
"That's a shame, he's missing out on a good looking girl." Raymond says hungrily.
"You know what I'm not that thirsty anymore." Sevyn replies placing the cup back on the rack and heading out the kitchen. But Raymond quickly steps in her path to block her only way out. His black eyes boring into hers.
