Chapter 44

"You're here!" Jamie exclaims, running into Jackson's bedroom and jumping on the bed. She crawls up to Sevyn and throws her arms around her neck, hugging so tight that they're cheeks are pressed against each others.

"Yup, I told you I'd come over soon." Sevyn says placing her in her lap. She was watching a corny BET movie with Jackson and talking about pointless stuff when the door burst open and Jamie ran inside. "How have you been?"

"Good. I not sick anymore and I'm back in school." Jamie says. She takes off the little backpack strapped to her back and unzips it, taking out the teddy bear Sevyn gave her when she was in the hospital. "I brought Aurora too!"

"That's a pretty name." Sevyn says petting the soft bear.

"It's a princess name," Jamie says matter factly.

Jackson grabs Jamie and she squeals as his fingers attack her sides, tickling her mercilessly. "You walk in here and don't say hello to your big brother?" He scolds as she has a giggle fit from his attack. She kicks and squirms, laughing in delight. "Say sorry!"

"No," she laughs and he grabs her foot, tickling her and making her scream in joy. Sevyn smiles, watching them interact.

"Help me Sevyn, help me!" Jamie exclaims, reaching to her. Sevyn grabs her hand and tries to pull her from Jackson but he gives her a look.

"Don't make me start on you too." He warns.

"No! I just ate!" Sevyn exclaims, dropping Jamie's hand. Jackson goes back to tickling her making her hiccup from laughing so hard. "Say sorry." Jackson demands.

"O-ok..." Jamie squeaks, "I-I'm sorry."

"Say I'm your favorite brother."

"You're my only brother!"

"Say it!" He tickles her hard.

"Ok!" She exclaims, "You're my favorite brother." She laughs some more. "Now stop it, I'm gonna fart!"

"Ew," Jackson stops immediately and she lays on his legs trying to catch her breath. He rubs her back as she breaths heavily and rubs her sore sides. His door opens again and his dad walks in.

"How'd the game go?" He ask leaning against the frame.

"It was cool, we won against the Trojans." Jackson beams. His father gives him a bright smile.

"Good job, I can't wait to read about it in the paper." He says proudly. "Y'all been doing good this season."

Jamie lifts her head and looks at her dad, "Cuz he's the best." She puts finger quotes around the word best. Sevyn laughs, to be five Jamie knows a lot.

"It's good seeing you around again Sevyn, I thought this boy would just mope around the house for the rest of his life." His dad chuckles. Jackson smiles shyly and looks at the tv as Sevyn smirks at him. His dad looks at Jamie, "Come on little girl, come brush your teeth and get ready for bed."

"Aww daddy," Jamie pouts. "I want to stay with Sevyn and Jackson."

"They're older than you, they don't want a five year old in here with them."

"She can stay for a little while," Jackson says glancing at the clock that reads 11:30.

"See!" Jamie whines looking a her dad with side eyes.

He sighs, "You've got twenty minutes then bed time."

"Yes!" Jamie punches her fist in the air and snuggles in between Sevyn and Jackson. Their dad shakes his head before leaving and closing the door behind him. Jamie bounces on the bed, "What are we gonna do now?"
