They Don't Know (BOOK TWO)

Chapter 10

Keenan? Yo where have you been bruh?

This seems to be the question of the week. Now that Keenan has returned to school after 'mysteriously' leaving for three months, everyone wants to know where he was and why he left. People he's never even talked to pop up in his face during class or in the hallways, asking the same question as the last person. 'Where have you been?'

Keenan doesn't want the whole school up in his business again, so he just says that he took a much needed break in order to set his mind straight. Most people leave it at that, but others ask more questions in hopes of getting more information. Keenan ignores them and after a while they give up with the interrogation. Everyone knows about his drastic breakup with Sevyn and according to Aubrey alot of people know what happened at Macy's party. He doesn't like the fact that everyone is in his business as much as they are now, so he refuses to let them in any deeper. Which only mean that stupid rulers start escalating around school regarding his disappearance. He tries not to listen but people really know how to get under his skin.

Ontop of all that, Keenan is far behind in his school work. Missing three months of school really causes the work to pile up, he's been struggling to get through all of it because he's so behind on the lessons. His teachers help as much as they can but not even they are going to stay behind after school everyday to reteach a lesson that he missed. So a lot of the time it's just him, reading through his textbooks and trying to cram three months of knowledge into his brain.

Shifting back into school life is a serious struggle for Keenan and seeing Sevyn everyday doesn't make it any better. When he got back to school he was pulled out of his first class and told that his schedule had changed so that he's no longer in any of her classes. The restraining order is still being held against him so he can't be within her proximity. He's made a vow to stay away from her unless its a life or death situation.

Just by watching her from afar, Keenan notices a slight change in her. Her usually bubbly personality has faded away and she carries herself around school like she's out of place and doesn't belong. Keenan wishes he could talk to her and figure out what's wrong but he can't. Even though it pains him to move on, he stills cares about Sevyn regardless of all they've been through. And where is Jackson? Since they're supposedly dating, Keenan assumes he would be by her side 24/7. But he hasn't seen Jackson once since they've returned from winter break, maybe that's why she's been acting so different.

Now he sits in math feeling stupid because he doesn't understand the work they're supposed to be doing. "I don't get this." Keenan says, staring down at the math book in front of him.

Aubrey glances over at him, "Cuz you missed most of the lesson." She tells him.

He sucks his teeth and closes his book. "I'm never gonna catch up man. I've missed too many lesson, there's no way I can learn all that new material by the next marking period. I might as well accept the fact that I'm gonna be a junior again next year."

Aubrey gives him a sympathetic frown then an idea hits her. "You could always get a tutor." She suggest.

"Like who?"

Aubrey hesitates, "Cordell."

"Maverson? Yeah right," Keenan scoffs. "He would never tutor me after what I did to Sevyn. Not even if his life depended on it."

"You'll never know if you don't try. He's really good at math plus he's a grade above us so he's already taken this class. He could really help you." She explains.

Keenan rolls his eyes in disbelief. "Yeah, and when did you get all close to him?"

Aubrey looks down at her desk and shrugs her shoulders. "I don't know, I stood up for Sevyn once when Carson was talking shit about her and he helped me with my books. We started talking in the library and...I don't know I guess we're acquaintances now."
