"How'd you get away with wearing those all day?" Sevyn asks Corey when she spots him at his locker in the hallway. She's referring to the black shades on Corey's face, shielding his eyes from everyone.
Instead of answering her, Corey grabs his textbook off the top shelf. "I talked to Rachel the other night. About what she said to you."
"Yeah, what did she say?" Sevyn asks anxious to hear his response.
Corey lets out an exasperated breath. "She said she wanted me to choose between you two."
"Me and her?" Sevyn asks in shock. She knew Rachel was crazy but she didnt know she was that crazy or that jealous. "Who do you choose?"
Corey closes his locker hard making her jump. He turns his body to face her and stares into her eyes, not that she can tell because of the glasses. "Who do you think I chose? The choice should be obvious." He says viciously before turning around and walking away from her. Sevyn watches in awe as he retreats down the hallway without even a brief glance back. Her inside churn and she suddenly feels weak. How is it possible to lose so many people so quickly?
Sevyn stares at his back until its no longer visible in the crowd of students. She stands there feeling like another piece of has been ripped apart. First Keenan, then Jackson now Corey. Her bad luck with boys just continues on and on. Maybe Money's right, girls are less drama.
As Sevyn turns and walks down the hallway to her next class she starts to wonder what it would be like dating a girl. It's just like kissing a boy except a girls lips will probably with softer and slick with gloss. Sevyn can't help but a make a disgusted face, she can't imagine dating a girl and treating them the way she would treat a boy. Kissing them, cuddling them, holding them, sitting on their laps, sleeping on their chest. Or in their case sleeping on their boobs. It would be too awkward.
"I'll just live with some cats." She says to herself giving up the lesbian idea. A tug on her shirt makes her quickly turn around to face Corey again except he has a goofy smile on his face. Sevyn glares at him, "What do you want? I got the message, you chose Rachel."
Corey cracks up, "I can't believe you believed me." He says through laughter. "Do you really think I would choose a jealous girl over one of my closest friends?"
"But aren't you and Rachel close too?" She asks, remembering how he told her about her a couple times before they met.
Corey nods his head, "Yeah but I can't be friends with someone who doesn't trust me. If she's making me choose between her and my best friend then she's not worth it."
Sevyn stares at him wishing she could see through his sunglasses so she could see the sincerity in his eyes. She punches him hard in the shoulder and he makes a noise of pain, holding his hurting arm. "Why would you play me like that!?" Sevyn exclaims. "I thought you really threw our whole friendship away!"
Corey laughs, "I just wanted to see your reaction. Rachel flipped a shit when I told her that I was breaking up with her. She was cursing up a storm, calling me every word in the book. I hung up in the middle of the rant and she definitely wasn't happy about that."
Sevyn bobs her eyebrows as they start walking down the hallway. "I'm sorry about how things ended between you guys." She says.
"It's alright, I'll just join you in the lonely hearts club." He jokes and she gives him the evil eye. He flashes her an innocent smile. "Have you talked to Jackson?"
Sevyn shakes her head, "Nope, I'm pretty sure we're avoiding each other like the plague right now. It gives us time to 'think'." She rolls her eyes at the way Jackson put it on Monday. Sevyn adjust her bookbag on her shoulder, "So what's up with the sunglasses? It's mad cloudy outside. You know it's winter right?"
