Hey, so I know it's been a while but I had loads of work to complete and was waiting for some ideas. It's not the best and it is short but when I have more time, I'll try to do better. Please enjoy :)(:
Aelin dodged the first blow. Rowan's second blow sent her flying to the ground.
Her breath was knocked out of her and her head spun.
Aelin gasped as a sharp pain shot her in the stomach. She gripped it as if she was about to claw the pain out of her.
Rowan rushed to her side.
"Fireheart?"
Aelin panted.
"What did I do?" He asked, fear glazing his eyes.
Aelin couldn't speak. Couldnt even scream as the pain spread to her throat. The pain flooded her body, leaving a trail of fire in her blood. There wasn't an inch of her that didn't burn.
She shot out a blast of fire towards a nearby tree. Her tiny bit of logic keeping the edge off her magic.
Rowan used his power to cool her down. He sniffed her.
"Don't worry, Aelin," he said more to himself. "I'll be right by your side."
Her body wasn't hers. It broke. And the parts that shattered, her fae powers knitted the pieces back together.
She couldn't understand. She had challenged Rowan to train with her again after Elentiya had wailed about how she could not shift and just wanted to play. Her five year old daughter was just as fierce as she was - still is.
It Aelin just as another blast of pain did. Her daughter was five. Five years ago she had been told this would happen. Aelin had doubted it, not sure if it was just a lie to make her suffer more.
But here it was. The truth. Even though Aelin was in agony, she felt so happy.
"Do not forget who you are, Aelin," Rowan whispered. "You are strong."
She could never forget who she was. How could she when she was so happy - when her mate made her so happy?
It wouldn't happen like the stories she had heard. She would not forget herself. She would not combust from the struggle of power. She would not die. She had looked death in the face and laughed. She had survived despite the odds. Her body was built to defy death. It would not be the thing that killed her.
No. Aelin would Settle. She would spend the next thousand years with her mate. Rowan would spend forever kicking her ass, having his own ass kicked, loving her, being loved by her.
She would become a legend.
