Ok so as an early graduation/21st birthday present my mum and I went to Paris (&Disneyland) for a week.
I honestly thought I would have time to go on wattpad etc... however that was not the case.
All the attractions in Paris are open til 11pm (except museums). So on the first day we managed to walk to Place de la Concorde then across a bridge, along the Seine and to the Louvre. The Louvre is soooooo huge! I recommend only doing it if you are physically fit enough. As most know by now I have scoliosis so can only walk so far without my back hurting, so we had to keep sitting down.
Everything is close together by bus or train like 2 stops or so but walking it's like an hour for each attraction.
We got distracted by the sights and walked everywhere on the first day which wasn't the smartest idea. But at least I got to see the Mona Lisa.
Afterwards, we went to the Eiffel Tower. It was sunset when we got there. There's 4 tickets offices with like 5 windows but only 1 office with 2 windows were open for about 300 people!
I recommend going up the Eiffel Tower for sunset because you get to see Paris at daytime and night time. We got to the very top (the sommet) and everyone went silent watching the sunset and when it disappeared everyone cheered. It was one of those moments where nothing else mattered. Who cares about our differences when you have a view like this? Sort of moment.
We were on it when it lit up and then went down as more people came up. I had to sit down cos my back as mum went off for a better angle for a picture and as I was doing a selfie with the tower from the bench I sat on, the light show came on right behind me!
We also went to the Arc de Triomphe, which is a bit dissapointing. First of all, a lift for disabled access was supposed to have been built at the start of June/end of May but it hadn't. So youd have to walk up the 200+ stairs (Which doesn't sound so bad if you don't mind hundreds of people behind you rushing you in a very tight towerlike spiralling staircase). Secondly, when you go inside at the top, there's just a shop (Which is probably the best thing about it). There's a mini museum but you have to walk back down and then back up. When you go outside to the roof finally, the view is nothing compared to the Eiffel Tower. I don't know whether it's because I live in London so I have those kind of views whenever I travel into Central but it wasn't much different but the Eiffel Tower views.... they were so magical because you can see more of Paris.
We went to Notre Dame which was nice but it's sooooo long when you have a mum who literally stands in the supermarket for 20 mins deciding whether to get this ham or that ham. You can only imagine what she's like in a beautiful place like Notre Dame. Not to mention it was sooooooooooooo HOOOOTTT. We got sunburnt on the first day.
We also went to the Palace of Versailles. People call it a day trip. It is NOT. You can easily spend 2-3days looking around. It puts Buckingham Palace to shame. The palace part:
We queued up for 2.5 hours to get in. Gold everywhere. Only real furniture recovered from the revolution were 2 corner tables. The hall of mirrors full of people checking themselves out rather than the architecture (Which would be fine if it wasn't so busy).
The gardens:
Even bigger than the Palace. It's normally free but when they play music it's 7€ more. The music was a classical CD on speakers which was a bit disappointing. No one tells you when the fountains are coming on. So we saw them on as we were leaving. We walked miles to the public canal at the end of the gardens where you can get food and drink. There's 3 main sections to the gardens. We saw the centre and the right because the left looks the same apparently as the right. We decided to go find Marie Antoinette' s Estate.
