Nephele

I wake up to the sound of Solana and Knoton fooling around earlier than I had to, already I feel it's going to be a long day. I drag myself to bathe and after pick out a flowy white blouse with blue spots and leggings to wear for today.

A week ago, Jett and I moved up the wedding, but I had been too chicken to tell my dad myself for fear that I'd get thrown into the wedding planning, so I am making Jett come over and help me tell Father today. At least with Jett there I had that shield against it all. Although part of me did still resent Jett for making me reveal my feelings.

Jett has been busy with his family and I have been busy with mine. Things have been continuing to heat up between Ciro and the ladies of the village, but I can see he's getting bored- he'll make an excuse for a vacation soon. Zephyr reads his days away unless he is spending the time with Mayrah, his step is much lighter and I know he really is in love. Solana and Knoton have been making me pound on the walls like crazy whenever I happen to be in my room just to yell for them to keep it down for me to sleep. Nodin stays in his room with Verena- I still have never seen her with my eyes, but yet she exists and comes over often. It is Rhett who has been most unusual and out of character now that he is sexually active- Rhett is more withdrawn; skipping family meals, no words exchange when he does come- Rhett goes out all day and night which explains it all, but I just hope that he somehow finds a way to stabilize and act himself again.

"Princess Nephele, your fiancé has arrived." A guard announces from outside my door.

I jump up from my desk where I'd been sketching and reading through boring laws my father had recently put in place or modified to open the door and follow after the guard as he guides me to see the most enchanting man I'd ever meet- Jett.

"I hope you're ready to break the news because that's what is on the agenda for today." I nervously rub my hands together.

"Of course I am sweetheart, let's rip the bandage." He claps my hands enveloping his over mine, to get me to stop rubbing them.

"How have you been?" I glance him over- everything's there, in place.

"Wonderful." Jett smiles. "How are you, Princess?"

"Fine, fine. Let's go." I grab his hand and race us to my father's office. I knock once before sticking my head in. "Can Jett and I meet with you?"

Dad wasn't expecting this at all- his eyebrows say it all. "So are you going to finally start wedding planning?"

"It's about that." I was not ready and I was not going to do more than update him.

"Come in, Nephele." Father sighs and pets his beard.

Jett and I take our respective seats before my father and before any words are exchanged I blow the window open to let some air in.

"To what do I owe the pleasure of seeing the lovely couple?" My father looks between us.

"We have decided to change the date from November Thirtieth of the even year to January First of the even year." I squeeze my eyes shut and admit it all before opening them again.

"Oh?" My father smiles. "That's wonderful--the sooner the better. Why the change?"

"It's just for the best." I smile back weakly and relish in the beautiful breeze I move in.

"You two should start talking to the wedding organizer as soon as possible, this is going to be a big affair." My father locks his hands together and rests them on his stomach.

I stand from my chair to move over to the window completely. "Oh. Yeah, I guess..." I trail and feel myself becoming more withdrawn with every second spent here before him.
