My father and I had been stuck up in meetings all week and he had been hinting for me to invite my fiance to the family dinner. I eventually was pressured into it so much that I agreed-today is day that Jett will be coming to dine with us, at least I had sent a messenger out to extend the invitation to him. I hadn't seen Jett since we celebrated our engagement a week and three days ago. I dodged my siblings and all of their questions and threw myself into my duties in the meantime. Jett is as much of a mystery to all of them as he first was to me.
Nervously I braid my hair over to the side and smooth out my dress. None of the siblings know Jett is invited, only Father and the chefs do. I know the rest of them are already arguing at the table, but I rush to the front door of the castle to meet him and warn him of my family and how we act around each other. "First things first there are six of us and this is the older in decreasing age; me, Zephyr, Ciro, Solana, Rhett, and Nodin. If you don't know, Solana and I are the only girls. Zephyr is socially inappropriate, Ciro always has a woman hanging off of him, Solana is boy crazed, Rhett just first got laid a week ago, and Nodin is fifteen years old dating a seventeen year old woman. Those will probably be the topics of discussion when we enter. When my father comes, all of that will stop and they will make subtle digs at each other which I will have to break up. They will prod and poke at you, but you don't have to reveal anything you don't." I spit this all out at him as a way of greeting. "Got that?"
"I...Yes."
"I bet you regret helping me out now." I breathe out and check out his attire. "You look... nice." What I was actually thinking was that he looked so good I wanted to skip dinner and drag him to my room.
"I would never regret this." He smirks. "And you look beautiful."
I tuck in my lips to keep from ridiculously smiling and head down the hallway not waiting for him to follow. I feel my nerves grow as I approach.
"Oh my gods!" Solana immediately shouts.
"Don't. It'll just go to his head." I smirk back at Jett.
"I know where I want his head." Solana purrs.
All of my brothers groan.
"Solana!" I scold. "Really?"
"Yeah, don't you have your rapist piano teacher?" Rhett barks back.
I take my seat a the head and place Jett right next to me, across from Solana and not next to so she doesn't try anything. "This is my- this is Jett. Jett, these are my siblings." I point out each them with all of their names to him.
"What kind of name is Jett?" Zephyr asks.
"A beautiful one." Solana gawks. "Shut it, Junior."
"That explains that drawing I saw on your desk the other day." Nodin remarks and devilishly grins at me.
"I saw that drawing too." Rhett replies.
"Do I need to start locking my door?" My face completely red.
"Apparently so." Ciro chuckles.
I dare to glance over at Jett who seems to be enjoying this.
"Well, I think that's enough of that subject. What is going on with you all?" I change subject, I haven't spoken to them in basically ten days since I'd been dodging all the questions about my engagement.
"I went to the club last night." Rhett smirks.
Nodin rolls his eyes. "I was in my room all day...with Verena."
