Astrid

Today was the day. The day I'm meeting my suitor, the man I'm going to be with until the end of my days, or at least I hope so- I saw it in the foreseeable future. He is cute, with brown hair and blue eyes...he had this aspect to him where I knew we'd get along, probably because he is just as into prophecies as I am and had the geeky nature to make me feel comfortable, at least that's what I saw in my vision....

Nervously, I ring my fingers and wait at the front of the Dark Kingdom in a light green gown as his carriage arrives. Arsen was gracious enough to set me up and have him brought out here, but I only think that's because he is dying to get rid of me- but he needs me to stay to get his way with his business with Raidyn. Without me in his court, Arsen would get nothing done because he doesn't play nice with others, there's not a diplomatic bone in his body, every bone is just there to terrorize or should I rather say muscle- his eyes being his greatest weapon.

I break out of thought as the carriage door swings open and out pops the face I've seen in my dreams, dimples and all.

"Hello," I boldly spit out, out of character and completely regret it. I'm making a fool of myself already. I scratch at the back of my arm and wait for him to close the distance between us.

"Princess Astrid, you're even more beautiful in person." He nervously shoves his hands into his pockets. "I'm Conroy, but I guess you already know that, huh?" His cheeks blush.

"Yeah, uh- I'm sorry about that, but I've seen you." I push back my curls out of my face and look towards the castle. "Shall we?"

"It'll be my pleasure." He holds out his hand.

I quickly wipe the light sweat from my hands and try to be discreet about it before grasping his hand in mine. "Have you ever been here before? Would you like a tour?"

"Very much." He squeezes my hand. "I've only been to the castle once when my father was on business."

"What does your father do for business? I think you know what mine does." I chuckle lightly as we walk into the foyer.

Conroy smiles. "Well, my father is no king. He travels a lot as a merchant."

"A traveling merchant, huh? Is that what you do as well?"

"I like to travel and read prophecies. I'm a scholar."

"I knew about the prophecies bit," I admit. "We have that in common." I smile and nod. "Where do you primarily work as a scholar then?"

"It seems we are destined for each other. I work in the Green Kingdom, that is how I met your brother, King Arsen."

"I do hope that you find me a pleasant surprise in comparison, I feel as though I should apologize now for his behavior."

"It is a wonderful surprise. We are both getting old, and I think it's time to settle down."

"I have found myself thinking the same recently and I think that we could be compatible for one another. I'm excited to get to know you." I give him a warm smile as my mind wanders to thoughts of Raidyn, his hands on my body and his breath hot on my neck. Thoughts of the way the sheets wrapped around his chiseled body after. "Sorry, what?" I return to the conversation, Conroy is in the middle of a sentence it seems.

"I said, you can ask me anything you want." He furrowed his eyebrows. "Are you okay?"

"I just got distracted, I know how bad that looks..." I grimace. "Same goes for you, you can ask me anything."
