After a month of being in the Green Kingdom I haven't gotten very far with my mission. My daily meetings with Astrid, Byrd, and Rhett pretty much go the same way. My love isn't cutting it. The plan isn't working. I'm not trying hard enough. Truth is, Arsen is hard to crack open, he's so reserved and closed off from everyone. Although I've been spending the majority of my days and night's with him, he doesn't seem at all interested. I kissed him frequently and from what I think, he likes it. As far as sex, I've never been so horny in my life. I haven't had sex for an entire month, this is the longest I've ever gone. I'm dying.
There were many nights I thought about going into the village and meeting someone just to satisfy the urge, but my nights always ended up with Arsen. We'd talk, take strolls in the gardens. Each conversation becomes more in depth than the last. It felt like I was getting somewhere and then other times, I felt like I was going two steps back.
By the second month in the Green Kingdom, I noticed Arsen smiled more. Our days would be spent in the village rather than the castle. We'd go to the merchant square where I'd occasionally buy him things, if I saw roses, I always bought him a single rose reminding him of the bed story I told him all those nights ago. We spent every night together that second month and sleeping got easier too, I didn't feel as homesick as I did two months ago.
As we approach three months of being in the Green Kingdom, Byrd has been getting impatient. In our meeting this morning Astrid has expressed that she is feeling indifferent about this mission. It's been no secret that they have been spending time together. If Arsen wasn't with me, I knew he was with his sister. Byrd would get angry at Astrid telling her he's playing with her, Finn agrees. I look to Rhett but he doesn't seem to care either way. Rhett looks at me with disappointment, I know he thinks I'm screwing up this mission. Sometimes I can't bear to look at him for fear that I'll think of Daddy and think of how I'm a disappointment to him too.
I promise Byrd that I will try harder. I'm finally getting somewhere with Arsen. He laughs easier with me and tells stories on his own without my prying. I think Byrd is happy with that news, but I know she thinks I'm not trying hard enough. Some days it's hard to be in a good mood when I'm with him, all I can think about is failure especially when we lay in bed with no sex...again.
I was giddy when Arsen told me he was going to take me into town to get something to eat. I needed a good two hours to get dressed and do my hair and look ravishing. I wear one of my favorite black dresses, a breezy material that falls to my knees and is short-sleeved, perfect for the Green Kingdom weather. Instead of my normal heels I opt for my leather sandals. I grab my large straw hat and skip to Arsen's room.
"Are you ready?" I peek my head in.
"Of course I am." He grants me the most dashing smile and twirls me around so my dress flows around me. "You look lovely."
"And you look handsome as ever!" I lean up and barely make it to kiss him on the cheek. He's wearing a white button up shirt, the first few buttons undone showing off his bronzed chest. What I obsess mostly over is his arms, the material is a tight fit around his biceps and I gladly grab onto them relishing in his muscles.
"Shall we?" He gestures towards the door, still smiling wide.
Leaving the castle the sun is bright, I place my hat on my head shielding my face from the sun's rays. My arm is locked with his as he leads me into the village. "What a beautiful day! Araelle rarely sees days this nice. It's always so windy and cold." We pass by the merchant square as girls passing by giggle at Arsen and men passing by stop to gawk at me.
"This would be my favorite type of day at sea and absolutely dreadful if I was working construction." He laughs freely, much more than he had three months ago. "Anywhere you want to go?"
