Zephyr II
It took me hours to figure out what I wanted to wear. Mayrah has today off and it's our day. She invited me to spend the night at her house in the village. I head into Nephele's room with a pile full of clothes.
"What do I wear?"
"For Mayrah?" She croons and smirks at me. "Does it matter what you wear? It's going to come off anyways."
"Nephele." My face turns red and my eyes widen. "She is cooking me dinner. I need to know what to wear. What is appropriate?"
"Those and those." She pulls a pair of black slacks and a maroon button up shirt.
"Thank you." I run back to my room to put on the clothes and stare at myself in the mirror. My hair is wavy and barely touches my shoulders, I decide to put it back in bun for something different.
I grab a rose from the garden and head into the village with my head down and low as I approach her quaint but cozy looking house. I knock on the door and when she answers I greet her with a smile and hold out the rose. "Hello."
"H-hey, you look so nice and I look....," she looks down at her outfit, "like this. You're so handsome."
"Oh no. No, you look beautiful." I gaze lovingly at her. "So beautiful." I breathe out.
She blushes and looks down to her feet before grabbing my hand and pulling me inside. "Dinner is ready."
"Oh wonderful." I look at the table for two already set. As she heads into the kitchen to grab the food I fold both of our napkins, and fix and organize the silverware. "It smells very good. What did you make?"
"I just threw a bunch of stuff together." She replies modestly but she prepared a fist. "My grandmother's special chicken recipe, salad, and some vegetables."
I take my seat across from her and refold my napkin for good measure and look down at the plate with my food touching and I grimace.
"What's wrong? What did I do?"
"Nothing." I look up to smile at her as I try to organize my food. "This is lovely." I can feel my heart rate pick up.
"I really hope you like it, but I doubt I'm as good as the castle chefs."
I take a bite and make an 'mmm' noise. "It's better than the castle food. I wish you could cook for me all the time."
"You're just being kind." She smiles at me.
"Am not." I smile back at her. I continue to eat the food, I have to make sure I eat every last bite. "How has your day been?" I pick up my knife and cut my chicken into equal pieces.
"I've been cooking and cleaning, other than that nothing else. You?"
"I spent the entire day finding out what to wear." I smile.
"I like the choice. What did you do the past couple of days?"
"Let's see..." I try to remember. "I read a lot of books."
"What was your favorite one about?"
"Well I read this one book on how to be socially appropriate. It was hard to understand." I reply and then mumble. "Maybe I'll read it again..."
"You could always talk to someone about your problems- like an expert. I don't mean it to like offend you- I just- if you want help in that respect we could search for someone. I'm sure your father would support you."
I blink at her. "Yes. I could always talk to someone." I nod. "Do you think something is wrong with me?"
"I think there's something a little off with everyone."
