Nephele
My father has spread the announcement of my engagement to kingdoms near and far and every the overseas kingdoms have gotten word. Three days it took for word to travel that far which astounded me.
I corrected Lupa and told her of my wedding preferences for the venue and color scheme once I came up with the idea.
Cryptically my father advised me to wear a dark blue gown to my counsel meeting today and it wasn't too hard to guess why; an ambassador from Ferawen must be in. Whether it was from King Themis's side or Prince Aramis's I don't know, but dark blue it is.
The dark blue really brought out my eyes and complimented my sleek and shiny black hair. The dress was slimming and had sleeves that were made of a thin material, I think maybe my wedding gown would be similar in the style except for sleeves of lace. I couldn't wait to see Jett later, these meetings dragged by now that after was when I'd finally see my love.
"Themis..." I exhale under my breath as I catch the sight of just who we are meeting with from Ferawen. My eyes trails from him smiling pleasantly back at me, enjoying the reaction, and wander over to his younger brother who is around my age. "King Themis and Prince Aramis." I correct and straighten my posture and my dress as a respectfully bow my head. "I am so glad you both are here." It's been almost a year seen I was last in Themis's company and seeing him now had me sweating bullets. Why was here here? What were the two of them doing here?
Anxiously I wait for a break in the meeting to head out in the hallway and crack open a window to get some air. Unsurprisingly, the door opens after me.
"Hello again, Nephele. I heard you were engaged and I didn't believe it, almost couldn't believe it. I just had to come check, stop in and see for myself." Themis leans in close enough that our breaths mingle and his hand grazes the side of my arm.
I turn my head to the side. "Yes, Themis, I am engaged. Last we were together we both agreed that we wouldn't allow what happened between to get in the way of our allegiance to our kingdoms. Plus, you were obviously caught up in that woman who left you...what was her name? Le-"
"Yes, yes. I get it. Was I under the wrong impression? Did you not enjoy our time together? I feel like I may be remembering more than you do, or at least more clearly. I still remember you naked in my chambers, the moans-" Now it was my turn to cut him off with my face red and my fear that someone else might hear.
"I'm happily engaged. I'm sorry, that was over- a one time thing that is our little secret forever."
"And if I don't consider it over? If you're the woman I actually fight for like how you convinced me to for that other woman I was hung up on at the time?"
"It changes nothing Themis! I am in love with my fiancé! This is over!" I snap.
"Oh really?" He smirks, his pale grey eyes lighter than usual. He continues to close the space between us by taking a step forward.
"Yes, really! Our kingdoms will do business together throughout our rules and no one will ever know about this, except us." I point back and forth in between our bodies as I take a step back. "Got it? I am deeply in love with my fiancé and someday you'll find someone for you too."
"You know our night was one to remember, Neph."
"Yes, I know. I remember it. Themis, why are you here? Just go back into the meeting." I rub at my forehead.
"That was your first release...wasn't it?" He continues to taunt.
"It was." I blow out air. "So? I wasn't one to get around and I'm still not if that's what you're getting at."
