Zephyr II
I don't know what time it was when Nephele got home, all I know it was late and I was already asleep. I open the door when she knocks one time and I let her in.
"How was your long night with Jett?"
"Amazing." Nephele smiles, rosy color in her face.
"I bet." I chuckle and sit on the edge of my bed.
"Did you feel anything usual earlier?"
"Feel anything?" I look at her strange.
"I- nevermind. It's too embarrassing. I was just wondering if you felt like a wave of air or something." She plays with her fingers.
"Oh that?" I nod my head. "Yeah but I thought it was Ciro."
"Ciro does that often?" Nephele raises her eyebrows.
"Every once in awhile." I shrug.
"I didn't think he was ever in love." She mutters.
"In love? I think it was more of him just blowing a big load." I laugh.
Nephele's face turns beat red. "I don't know. Yeah, probably that was all it was."
My laughing dies down. "What's going on, Neph?"
She shakes her head, "Nothing, nothing. How are you?"
"I am fine." I nod my head.
"I love him."
"Nephele, that is wonderful." I grab her hand and smile. "I'm very happy for you."
"Is it? Is it, Z? What happens when it doesn't work out? What happens when something goes wrong? What happens if he mysteriously falls ill and leaves me to raise six children alone? Let alone the kingdom..."
I fall silent looking down at my hands now folded in my lap. "I don't know. I don't have the answers to any of that." I frown and slump my shoulders. "I'll help you. If all that somehow happens, I'll help you raise your children and help you with the kingdom."
"You all will have your lives and your children and I couldn't ask that of anyone. I'm so weak now. I'm so vulnerable. I can't be in love with him I don't know why I didn't just leave him alone." She cries.
"Mayrah is soon going to learn she won't be able to take care of me her entire life, I'll most likely be alone." I frown and grab her hand once more pulling her to sit next to me. "You have to give love a chance. No one knows what is going to happen in the future, but he makes you happy--allow yourself that pleasure don't overthink. You are far from a weak person, you are the strongest woman I know."
"I want him all with him. I want marriage and kids. I want to be at his side. I could've been fine alone, I could've ruled alone and figured it all out. Something is going to happen and he is going to be taken from me, Z. This just can't be happening to me."
"No." I shake my head. "Everybody needs someone. This man is willing to marry you and have your babies. Something bad might happen, but then again, nothing could happen. Let yourself have this, Neph. You deserve it. Take a chance!"
"He is the most wonderful man I've ever met, so irresistible." She sniffles. "I am going to bring him into this world of responsibility and pressure and I am going to crush the spirit I love so much and ruin him."
"Nephele, stop." I frown. "Remember when I was talking to you about wanting to leave Mayrah so she could be happy? You told me no let her make decisions for herself, don't ruin things. Take your advice, let him make these decisions, don't ruin what you two have."
