Nephele
"What did you do to your hair, Z?" I whisper yell over to him as we walk to Jett's behind our father.
"I cut it." Zephyr says simply brushing his hair back with his fingers.
I sigh and decide to just give up now. I was already nervous enough about tonight before I knew everything about Zephyr. I still don't know how to act of think or even feel about it.
We were pretty much all walking in order of birth, Rhett and Nodin were side by side though- it didn't matter as long as they were keeping up. They start to fist fight each other in the street so I figure now is the best time to walk back and talk to them about behavior.
"I won't have the time to watch out over you two so could you please just make my life easy and behave. Oh, and no taking Jett's sister to bed either." I give a pointed look to both Rhett and Nodin, even though Nodin has a girlfriend.
"Challenge accepted." Rhett smirks and Nodin chuckles.
I grab Rhett's ear and pinch. "What was that? I don't think I heard you correctly."
"Ow! Okay, okay." He swats at me.
"That's better." I huff and straighten out my dress.
"I'll make sure they don't get in any trouble." Zephyr says catching up with me.
"Thanks." I give him an appreciative smile as Father knocks on the front door. I quickly leave the back of the group to go to the front and greet Jett who answers the door. "I need you to stay close to me tonight." I whisper to him and quickly snatch his hand. I can feel my nerves multiplying. I know the pressure from my father is underway, especially if he knows of Jett's mother's feelings to move up the wedding.
"Everything will be okay." He kisses my cheek and squeezes my hand. "Welcome, King Zephyr. I'm glad you all could make it." Jett bows his head out of respect for my father.
"I'm glad that this is finally happening. Thank you for inviting all of us into your home." Dad is being polite- I expected nothing less, it's later on where he would be a problem. After tonight is over I'll get hounded daily and really have to start the planning the following week like he wants.
"Okay." I clap my hands together. "Everybody in." I motion for my family to move in through the door and kind of steer Jett out of the way so they can come in.
Jett's family and my own basically take up all of the space in the room so I am quick with introductions so they can all spread out. "This is my father, King Zephyr, and these are my siblings; Zephyr, Ciro, Solana, Rhett, and Nodin."
"It's lovely to meet you all." Jacalyn says with a large smile on her face and she curtsies. "Momma is just in her room getting ready, she's having trouble moving today--Jasper is with her. Our apologizes."
"This is Jacalyn." I tell all of my siblings and squeeze Jett's hand. It only makes it worse that his mother is having a bad day today. My arms are shaking now, I can't seem to calm the nerves.
Jett leans down to my ear. "Everything is okay, I promise." He kisses me again.
If only he knew how my day has been going, what I found out today. I give a small nod and a weak smile, "What happens when it all goes wrong?"
"Something will go wrong. My family isn't perfect, your family isn't perfect. When that something goes wrong...we'll laugh, because who cares? We both like each other and we're going to get married either way. It's just you and I for eternity." He gives me a weak smile back.
"That part I've already accepted." I breathe out and chuckle. "I think I can handle the thought of us for eternity. The thought of our families hating each other, not so much."
