Zephyr II
I stare at myself in the mirror to look at the deep scratches from Mayrah scabbed on my back. I smile realizing I have such an effect on her. Mayrah, my wonderful, gorgeous, precious little girlfriend. I'm so happy that at dinner I actually talk to my siblings and father without starting a fight or saying something rude. That night I fall asleep quickly in the middle of bed, even without her here, just the thought of her puts me in a good enough mood to find deep slumber.
I stare over at my mother at dinner folding her napping neatly on her lap. I'm so tiny that when I sit I can barely see over the table and my legs definitely don't touch the ground.
"Now you, Zephyr." My mother's voice is like a gentle breeze.
I pick up my napkin and mimic her folding and placing it on my lap too. I watch intently as she organizes her silverware and sits up straight waiting for dinner.
"Now you have lessons after this, sweetheart." Mom brushes my hair back and leans down to kiss my forehead.
"I know, Mommy." I shake my head and smile at her.
Throughout dinner I continue to watch my mother eat, her manners and posture always perfect. I try to be like her in every way wanting to make her proud. I am on my mother's left and Nephele is next to me on my father's right. To my mother's right is Solana and my father's left is Ciro.
Mom helps me down from my chair and grabs my hand as we walk down the corridor to the room where my lessons are.
My teacher Lady Fawna sits next to me and whenever I do something well she touches me and ever so often her touch will get lower and lower until I feel awkward and stare down at her hand. I don't know what's going on but it feel strange. It feels--
I wake up in pool of sweat. I rub my forehead and decide to take a cold bath for two hours until the clock hits seven o'clock and I can head down for an early breakfast--by that time I'm starving anyways. When I head into the hallway I hear Solana moaning and a pounding noise. I try to block it out as I rush down the East wing and down the stairs. To my surprise Nephele is in the dining room sneaking breakfast in too, she must be busy.
"Solana keep you up all night?" I take the seat across from her. I swear Solana and Ciro should've been placed together with the noise they make every night.
"Yep." She rubs at her forehead. "I bet you mainly heard Ciro too- I know I could hear him as well. Those two make it impossible to get a good night's sleep."
"They need their own wing to sleep in. I mean Nodin next to me isn't loud at all I think I've only heard him once or twice." I fold my napkin and put in on my lap. "What are your plans for today? Going to see your fiancé?"
"Yeah, something like that. What are you doing today? What's going on with Mayrah? Still staying with the whole boundaries- once a week thing? I see Jett about once a week just because of our schedules, but that's about to change..." Nephele sighs.
"I still see her once a week. I just slept over her house the other day. So I will be doing nothing today, I'll read a book possibly." I sigh with her. "Nothing in the realm is going on for me."
"Maybe you should try fencing."
"No." I say simply and quickly.
"Come on, you're older now! You could be good at it."
"We stopped my lessons because I hated my lessons. I'm not taking anything."
"I just think it would be nice for you to spend the day with Ciro or Rhett or even Nodin if he's not in that room all day."
