Pov: Alex.

"I thought you told me you understood that, but clearly, you don't! I can't even count how many times I've wanted to punch you in your uptight, prissy little face. But I'm not going to, instead, I'm going to turn away, head back home, and let you both know that I being with either one of you is the last thing I want to do." Vic Fuentes' bitter tone liberated from my Nokia phone screen. Yeah, I wasn't the richest kid, so what?

Jack sat still on my bed, his eyes wide with shock and inquisitiveness as he watched the recorded scene. We were sitting next to each other, shoulders touching, which, of course, caused me to feel a slight electricity run through my veins.

Okay, you got me. I, Alex Gaskath, one of the [best] players of the football team, have a slight, no, extreeeme attraction to my skinny best friend, Jack Barakat. But, let me tell you how this circumstance could happen to any fucking person on this entire planet.

First of all, have you seen Jack? No, really, have you? It is a common fact, Jack is hot. He's hotter than the cheerleaders, and that's saying something because the cheerleader's are practically on fire, which makes Jack over here a fucking erupting volcano, am I right? Of course I am.

Second of all, the first word that comes to mind when someone describes Jack Barakat, would probably, almost definitely be, "Asshole." No, not the rude, obnoxious, I-want-to-punch-you-in-the-fucking-face asshole. Jack's the asshole who you see at barbecues, the one who makes you laugh so hard you can feel your dick fall off. The one who cracks open a bottle of beer, as well as a hilarious joke. The one who can make you feel better, simply by eating nachos and watching football games with you. No matter how much you may suddenly hate him, you're always going to forgive him, because he's Jack. The asshole, the lovable asshole.

But, unfortunately, there's just one bad thing about Jack. Like the others, who all have at least one good thing about them, there's always the bad thing that makes everything come crashing down like a shipwreck. Like every other member of my team, Jack is a homophobe. Aka, a word which makes my skin crawl just thinking about it.

Oh, what I would give to just be able to say to Jack, "Hey, man, truth is, I think you're sex on legs. Like, dude! I've always been attracted to you, from the moment I met you, really. And the fact that you're so damn hot actually frustrates me sometimes, to be honest. Also, you have a cute butt, and when the other guys slap it as a way of saying "good game" I can't help but feel a pang of jealousy. So, now that that's all said and done, wanna make out?"

But I know I can't do that.

"Wow, I guess Kellin really did have a thing with Vic. H--Hah, gross man. I guess he really is, a fag."

This being why.

"Yeah," Scratching the back of my neck, I, once again, put on an act, "I know. I... Hate fags."
