No one had said a word, no one had the guts to even start a conversation.

Without Rhain explaining it to us we already knew what had happened and why. It was hard for us all, especially for Rhain.

She tried to be the best leader for us, and being a leader meant making hard decisions. Leaving Riley behind- and judging from the shots, she killed her. She killed Riley so the poor girl wouldn't turn into a flesh eating monster.

The five of us were currently hiding in the  small building Rhain saw. Judging from the inside it used to be a farm.

I was sitting in the doorway, looking at the dark sky. Just wondering what would happen after our mission, where we would go and what to do- and how many of us would make it. It was typical for me to worry about anything when everyone was asleep, that's why I always took the first guard shift.

"Worrying again Cey?" I heard a soft voice behind me.

I looked behind me at Rhain, she looked exhausted.

"You know me, full of sass and worry" I give her a small smile, "is the reason you can't sleep Riley".

She let out a soft sigh, "it was horrible. I want to save everyone and when the moment comes I can't, it just hits you".

I give her a hug, "still you're doing a great job, you're a great leader. It's just the circumstance that cause us to lose people".

Rhain let's out another sigh, "you're right Cey, I'm glad you're still here. When it's late you have some wise words that somehow cheer me up".

A soft chuckle escapes my lips.

"Glad to be of services, and now go to sleep. We got another long day ahead of us tomorrow leader".

She stands up as she bids me a goodnight.

I smile bitterly as I watch her walk away, I can't believe how strong this girl is.

The next morning is as usual, we eat a little before packing up and leaving our hide out. Only this morning I had the feeling something big was going to happen, I just hoped it wasn't another death.

With Rhain in the front we make our way through the sand. I looked at my side at Emme, she still looked tired even after a full night of sleep.

When Aaliyah came to take over my shift as guard, I noticed how Emme was snuggled into Rhain- it was good to see the two of them sleeping so peacefully.

"Alright boss, where do we go" Aaliyah asked curiously.

"As if you don't know it by now" Jessica said butting in.

I roll my eyes, these two were going to kill each other sooner or later- and when that would happen I got Aaliyah's back.

However I had the feeling something was wrong, I glanced at Rhain who had a similar look on her face. Sometimes it was as if we are sisters, well apart from our appearances.

I looked to my right as I saw something moving, hiding behind a massive boulder.  Curiosity got the best of me as I carefully made my way towards the boulder, hoping that whoever or whatever was hiding there wouldn't be scared off.

In the background I could hear Aaliyah and Jessica fight. Not that I cared right now, I had other things on my mind.

I carefully walked passed the boulder to see a body- it looked as if he spying on the girls. Without thinking it over I jumped onto him, my knife ready to threaten this figure.

"Wow, bloody hell" I heard a voice said.

I looked at the person I had tackled, which was hard since his face was basically pushed into the sand.

"Can you explain why you're sitting on my friend?!".

The body I was sitting on was trying to get me off, but it was not the one talking right now.

Confused I looked behind me to see a taller boy with his arms crossed over his chest looking at me. He had a frown on his face, along with a wound on his cheekbone, strawberry blond hair that was being messed up by the wind. He looked everything but happy.

"Do I have to repeat myself?".

I raised my eyebrow at him, "yes would be nice".

"Cey where did you g-" I heard Rhain say until she saw me sitting on top of someone and a guy with his arms crossed over his chest. "I should have known, Cey that guy is choking".

I rubbed the back of my neck as I got off the body. Immediately after it rolled over and I saw a body gasping for air.

"This is too weird" I muttered as I stood up and walked back towards Rhain, my knife still ready to attack if needed.

The guy with his arms crossed walked towards the one on the ground, "Aris are you okay".

The boy that was gasping just nodded.

"Who or what are you" I asked as I stand in front of Emme.

"None of your bloody business, you just tried to kill Aris" the guy shot back.

I rolled my eyes, is this guy actually being serious?

"His name is Newt, I'm Thomas and this here is Frypan".

Two more guys appeared out of nowhere. One of them is dark skinned, and looked a bit lost, as if he didn't know what was going on. The other pale with dark hair, he seemed to be the same height as Mr. Grumpy.

"Tommy come on, you pretend as if we can trust them" Mr Grumpy said.

"Yeah and who says we can trust you" Rhain asked, "because I don't".

"Be nice Newt" Thomas muttered before facing us, "sorry for... well sorry for what happend. But we really have to go now".

Rhain raised her eyebrows as she folded her arms over her chest.

"We need to save Minho for Ava Paige's evil hands" Frypan said- who had been silent the whole time.

Emme appeared from behind me as she looked at the guys, "that's funny, we're send to kill her".

Almost on cue Rhain and I do a face palm.

Was this kid serious?

But it did get the attention of the guys who looked more interested in us then before. Even that Newt guy lowered his arms. 

"You have to kill Ava Paige?".
