I can't believe I told Newt I love him, I've only made things harder with this. Judging from his face it bought his sanity back, even if it was for a second- I was able to see the Newt that I know and love.
Sadly he started to ask us to kill him again, his begging made me feel even worse. Of course I didn't want him to be in pain or to turn into a crank, but I couldn't bare killing someone I love. Someone I hold so dearly to my heart. No I could never do what he asked me to do.
The day turned into night, that's when the screaming started.
He was getting worse by the minute and there was nothing I could do to save him, his only hope is Thomas. But even Thomas didn't seem to know what to do to save him. He received help from numerous people but no one seemed to be helping him.
I couldn't sleep at all that night, all I could hear was Newt's screaming and the thought of losing Newt forever. When we started our lives in the Safe Haven, I thought everything would be different. That we could live our lives in peace, it even made me think about the future. A future with Newt and our possible kids.
But all of that faded away after I saw the bite mark on his side.
"Ceylon are you awake".
Slowly I lifted my head from my pillow, only to look into the eyes of Thomas.
Because I barely saw him the last week, I only now noticed the bags underneath his eyes. All because of staying up late to figure out a way to save Newt. I felt guilty that I couldn't take some of that burden off his shoulders.
"Yeah" I replied in a soft voice, my voice almost gone from all the crying.
"Can you come with me" Thomas asked.
I nodded before I climbed out of my hammock, following Thomas to his little 'lab'.
The first thing I noticed was some broken glass he had swiped into a corner, pieces of paper decorating the floor and even a blue drab on the walls.
"Okay so Ceylon, I think I'm close to finding a cure" Thomas said proudly, "earlier today Rhain went out to find some glass for me to use since I broke all of mine, however she came back with this".
Thomas picked up a small notebook, "it doesn't seem like much but belonged to Teresa and when I looked through it I noticed she was close to finding a cure".
He hands over the notebook for me to look in, but I shake my head.
"We both know that it's too late for Newt".
"That's where you are wrong" Thomas remarks, "he slips in and out of sanity because of you. He doesn't want to leave you, he cares about you too much to let you go. That's why I need you to talk to him after I finish making the cure, if you can get him to calm down then we can give him the cure".
