| Epilogue, six years later |
A soft sigh escaped my mouth, it was a warm day. However it was not like the warm days we used to have in the scorch, this warmth was bearable.
I looked up at Newt, he was playing with our two year old, he was twirling our little boy around who was laughing happily. Of course I was worried, Newt could be a little rough with our first born, but he always told me not to worry and that it was just my mother instincts that were overreacting. In the end our son never got hurt.
"Appa" our son yelled when Newt was holding him up side down, a big smile on his face.
"Newt be careful" I told them, seeing Newt shake his head with a smirk.
Although I wanted to smack the grin off his face, I was just happy. Happy that our long journey had finally finished and we finally had to opportunity to start our lives.
After we were welcomed in the safe haven, Newt offered to help out with the gardening- since he was a track-hoe back in the maze. He gave them all kinds of tips and tricks how to make the crops grow even better. I on the other hand helped Thomas with helping people find their relatives. A part of me had hoped that my own parents were still alive, but after a year I gave up on that hope.
Newt was given the opportunity to retrieve his memories, but he declined. He didn't want to know what happened in the past instead he wanted to focus on the future. After being together for six months I told him about his sister, the truth about her being infected. I was expecting him to get mad and yell at me, but he told me that he had known the whole time. He just choose to keep quiet about it so he could process it.
Just like Newt I didn't want to have my memories back, I had Minho for that. Sometimes the two of us would just stay up until late in the night. He would tell me stories of what we used to do as kids, other times he was teaching me how to speak Korean.
That's why he basically begged me to give my children a Korean name too. He even suggested one the night my son was born.
"Eomma" I suddenly heard as I saw my son running towards me, he jumped into my arms as he hid his face in my chest, "appa mean".
I looked up with my eyebrows raised as I looked at Newt who was rubbing the back of his neck, "no seriously I didn't do anything, I just wanted to let him try some carrots".
I rolled my eyes, "you know he doesn't like carrots".
Newt chuckled before taking a seat next to me, rubbing the back of our sons back.
"Isaac, where is that healing smile" he asked.
Our son, Isaac looked up for a second before he gave his dad a small smile.
