| 6 months in the Safe Haven |

It would often just be me, my brother and Newt outside of the safe haven. We would receive orders to find any survivors we could help, those who were not yet turned into a crank. While Thomas was busy finding out the cure, the rest of us were either out there looking for people we can help out or we would be rebuilding. Trying to rebuild society.

Honestly, the rebuilding wasn't my thing. I either ended up hurting myself or someone around me, it got to a point where they told me to do something else with my energy. That's how the idea went around that there might still be people out there who need our help.

Minho and I quickly volunteered to do this dangerous job, his reason was that the building got boring and he needed a new challenge. He needed a change of pace. However there was someone who did not agree with me helping out Minho and that was Newt, he didn't want to risk losing me again- that's why he joined despite my protests.

"Cey wake up" Minho called out to me, "it's time to go".

My brother started to shake me in an effort to wake me up, along with a yawn I opened my eyes. Only to be greeted with his goofy face.

"Is it time already" I asked with a yawn as I got out of my hammock, I looked around and saw the rest peacefully sleeping, well except for the hammock next to me. That one belongs to my brother, who seemed to have developed his own alarm clock. But after all we've been through I understand.

"Obviously, the sun is up and so should you".

I gave him a slow nod as I stretched.

It was that moment I looked around, looking for someone in particular.

"Where's Newt" I asked Minho with confusion.

Newt wouldn't let me get out of the safe haven without him by my side.

"I thought we could go without him today, since he got his limp and well it's easier to look after just one person instead of two", Minho paused, "but he already woke up while I was trying to wake you up, so he's preparing some breakfast for us".

With those words Minho walked away.

"Hurry sis".

I simply rolled my eyes, not understanding why he was so impatient at times.

By now we were making our way through the woods, since we had only discovered parts of the island. Last time we discovered an area that pretty much looked like the Scorch. There was sand everywhere and no trees in sight, in fact all you could see was miles and miles of sand.

Of course I already figured out that there won't be any survivors out there, but we needed to know what dangers were out there.

That's why Minho decided that we needed to leave as early as possible so we had enough time to explore the island, see what was out there.
