Well there is no way in hell that I'm setting one step into that building.
We were standing on a hill looking down at what once used to be a skyline of some city. Only problem is that all those buildings have collapsed in to one another for quite some miles. Unfortunately behind this fence made out of buildings lies our destination: the city.
"I say we go in" Thomas starts earning a few 'are you mad' looks including mine.
"We will lose at least a day or two going around it, if there is a way around it"
"Better two day then our lives" I say and just on que a piece of the building breaks falling on the ground. With my arms crossed I look at Thomas "See even the building says stay out"
"Don't be a chicken and let's go already" a voice says behind me and stunned I turned around. Jessica had the nerve to call me a chicken, the girl who doesn't do anything but complain or scream to get us in to trouble.
"That is just your tired ass talking" Thomas defends me before I can say anything back to her. A small smile forms on my lips when I see her shock.
"can't believe I'm saying this" Newt mutters "but the girl has a point. We should go now while we still have daylight and can exactly see where we can step" he explains and I know deep down it's the most logical way, but I just have a bad feeling about this.
But I understand the boys they need to hurry, their friend is held captive by WCKD and who knows what they are doing to him.
Defeated I sigh before nodding. The sooner we are going through the building the faster we are on the other side. With a satisfied smile , Thomas walks on towards the cracking building. If I'm dying in this place I'm going to kill Thomas.
Without thinking anything of it I end up with Newt and Ceylon at the back when we step into the building. Seems like even though Newt agreed he didn't really want to do this either.
I closed the line while Thomas was way in the front together with Frypan, moving things out of the way as careful as possible.
Almost all the pillars were broken and half supported each other. The ceiling was barely a ceiling at all, you could see pipes half hanging, together with power cables. Not to mention that half of the building was crooked anyway making walking here even more difficult.
Thomas pushes a door out of the way, But it caused the whole building to let out a low rumble.
"I knew it we are going to die" I mutter making Thomas roll his eyes "didn't know being a drama queen was contagious" he shot back making me huff as others chuckle.
When we come to another stop I can't see what is blocking our way this time but I do see that Thomas, Frypan and Aris are needed to move something out of the way. When they throw it on the side the building shakes and rumbles again, more than last time. For a few tense seconds we all hold still and hold our breath. Luckily it stops.
We all release the breath we were holding. That was close.
Too soon, the building starts to shake yet again and a few pipes fall from the ceiling.
"Run!" Thomas yells before we all start running, sometimes having to jump or duck for things.
Behind me I hear glass breaking and walls crumbling, why did I have to close the line again.
I see that Thomas is already on the other side out of the building, urging us to run faster together with Frypan.
Suddenly I hear a loud crack above us. A piece of a pillar is breaking, threatening to fall on Ceylon.
Without thinking I run to her and jump-push her out of the way landing on top of her to shield her from the rest of the falling debris as the building crumbles around us. ---
Dazed I wake up when I feel someone stirring under me. The place is dark with only a little light coming in from high above us.
"Get off me!" I heard an hoarse voice say before I get pushed away. Right, I was here with Cey.
I rub my head trying to get my thoughts straight. Events from before slowly returning to me. We must have been knocked out by the falling debris.
"Oh sorry I didn't know it was you" Cey say while rubbing her head clearly in pain. Grinning I look at her.
"Afraid I was Newt" I tease before I want to hit myself in the face. Why am I making jokes when we might be buried alive for all we know.
"That was funny" she deadpans "you must have hit your head pretty hard" she retorts back at me with a slight smile. I want to say something back but we suddenly hear voices coming from the other side of a wall of the collapsed building"
Different voices shouting our name. quickly we both stand up running towards the sound.
"In here!" we shout and we here a few cheers from the other side.
"Are you two hurt?" I hear Thomas yell.
"Just a bit banged up, we will be fine" I shout back.
"Is there a way you can find another exit?" comes another voice and it takes me a second before I realize it was Newt.
This time it's Ceylon who responses "no we are completely boxed in" we both look at each other when it stays a little to long quiet on the other side.
I fear that we are indeed trapped here until we slowly die.
"No need to worry" Thomas voice eventually says but he doesn't really sound that sure himself "we will start moving debris from this side, just hang tight" he shouts and we both shout our agreement.
But I have to be honest. The bad feeling I had earlier? It just got worse.
