Getting out of the hospital was no easy task. But somehow Sebastian made it work, and we were out in the dark parking lot. My hand was sore from taking my IV out, but I didn't really mind it much. All I cared about was that I was out of the hospital. It felt like a major relief. All the problems felt like they were finally lifted off my shoulders."This is my car," he spoke quietly. As we approached it I could see it was an old blue suburban. It was kind of breathtaking actually, in a weird way. It was also very cute.
"I like it. Does it have a name?" I asked curiously.
"No," he chuckled, seemingly confused, "do you want to name it?"
"Yes, I do," I smiled, opening the passenger door, "The Happy Wagon."
"Perfect. Suits it very well."
"Thank you. I thought so," I smirked.
"Okay so here's the plan," Sebastian said, "I'm going to park farther away from my house so my parents don't see headlights or hear anything. I'm going to knock on my brother's window and ask him to pack me my things and money and some extra stuff for you and then we're out of here."
"What about me? I have no clothes or anything," I said.
"Well, you can borrow some of my sister's things."
"I didn't know you had a sister," I stated.
"Really, I never mentioned her?" He asked, trying to avoid the subject.
"No," I chuckled, "you didn't."
"Yeah. She was my older sister but she passed away a few years ago. You're probably about her size."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." What do you even say to someone when they tell you that? You have nothing to be sorry about so it's weird to say, 'I'm sorry', but then again you don't really have any other options.
An awkward silence filled the car until he spoke up again.
"Are you ready?" He asked, his usual smile returning to his face as he pushed the thoughts of his sister away.
I breathed in a deep breath and unrolled my window. And as my seatbelt clicked, I said, "take me on an adventure."
"As thy lady commands," Sebastian smiled, twisting his keys to turn on the car. It sputtered and coughed a bit before it came roaring to life. I patted the dash of The Happy Wagon and laughed to myself. This was so insane.
"Let's go." He backed out of the parking lot and onto the highway.
I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins and a sense of freedom as we sped down the freeway. My heart was beginning to fill, I don't know what it was, but it was heavy and refreshing.
