SebastianOne of Luna's doctors came and sat with her parents in the waiting room. I watched and listened as they talked about her current state.
"So, I'm sure that you are both aware her disease is terminal, and it's also something we have never seen before?" He asked, looking through his folder full of papers.
"Yes. We know." Her mom answered. Denessy gripped Will's hand and I swallowed a lump in my throat.
"Okay well we're done the tests and we are using the current medication she was using in Bellevue. It's a bit stronger because she's very weak. You can see her now but she may not wake up, she's pretty knocked out."
She nodded and looked at her husband, and then they looked at me.
"Ready?" Will asked.
"Uh, uh... yeah," I muttered, standing up.
We followed behind the doctor down long and sterile halls, passing hundreds of doors and patients. I just kept my eyes focused on the floor. I always had weird feelings when I was in hospitals. In the mental hospital, it was different.
When we got to her room, there was a whiteboard outside with her name written on it and just seeing it made me smile. Her name in itself was enough to give me butterflies.
"I'll be back to check up in a little while." And with that, the doctor left.
Luna's room was fairly small. It had a bed in one corner with a T.V. attached to the wall. A big window took up most of one wall, but it was covered with the curtains, keeping the sunlight out.
Luna's body was connected to more tubes and machines that I've ever seen her in before, and it made my heart drop into my stomach.
"Uh, you guys can see her first. I'll wait over here." I sat down in a chair beside the door while her parents went across the room.
Her mother gingerly traced her forehead with her fingers and Luna stirred, opening her eyes into thin lines.
"Mom?" She croaked. It had only been twelve hours at the least but it felt like so long since I heard her voice. My heart skipped a beat.
"I'm right here, sweetie. Dad and I are here."
Her dad grabbed her hand and rubbed it. I shifted uncomfortably in my chair.
"Wait," she panicked, "wait, where's- where is he?"
"Where's who?" Her mom asked.
"Sebastian, where's Sebastian?" She tried to sit up and her mom pushed her back down gently.
"Shh, it's okay he's just right over there. Don't strain yourself, dear." Her mom looked at me and motioned for me to come over.
"Mom, can I just talk to him alone for a few minutes?"
Her mom looked like she didn't want to leave her sight, but she nodded and her parents left. I walked to the head of her bed and she smiled at me.
"I'm sorry."
I frowned. "What are you sorry for?"
"For scaring everyone. And passing out," she chuckled dryly.
"Well, it isn't your fault. Don't be sorry." I said quietly, pushing her long, brown hair behind her ear.
Her arm that was full of tubes and needles came up and she grabbed my hand, bringing it to her lips and she kissed it.
"I know I was unconscious, but I missed you," she laughed.
"I missed you, too."
I was almost scared to touch her, she just looked so fragile and breakable. Her face was sort of pale, but the colour of her eyes didn't fade, they were still that bright, vibrant green that made my heart race.
"So, are you gonna kiss me?" She asked.
"Wow, so that's how we're doing it now?" I smirked and leaned in.
"Just shut up and c'mere." She smiled and put her hands behind my head and pulled me in.
Her lips were still warm, and she tangled her fingers in my hair. I smiled against her lips and the door swung open.
I pulled away quickly, my cheeks flushing as I wiped my lips.
"Oh, sorry to interrupt." Her mom smiled, seemingly embarrassed.
Luna was biting her lip and smiling.
"No, no it's okay," I said.
"The doctor just wanted to check up on you, Luna."
"Oh, okay." She said. I walked towards the door and Luna called me before I left.
"Hey, Sebastian?" Her words dripped off her lips like sweet honey.
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
I smiled, probably the biggest one I have in my life. "I love you, more."
I didn't leave her enough time to fight back with 'I love you most' before leaving the room.
