Luna

"W-what?"

"I love you," he said again.

My mind was a jumbled mess, the words that wanted to come out were changed around and missing letters and my mouth was hinged open. I felt my heart beat faster as I just stared at him. Was this actually happening?

"I-"

"You don't have to say anything. That's just how I feel. I just... wanted to let you know. Your smile brightens up my day and your laugh lifts me out of my dark place. I get lost just looking into your eyes but I never get scared, because I know you're right there in front of me to find me. I love how all you want to do is tell stories of the sky and dance with the stars. I love how pure your heart is. How old your soul is. I love everything about you Luna."

I couldn't even think. Of course, I loved him back. I couldn't form the words.

I breathed in and sighed, shut my eyes, and thought about how great he is. How his hair falls across his forehead and how his touch sends me spiraling. I never get tired of his voice. He is always doing anything to make me happy. So, so selfless. The sparkly ocean blue eyes. His smile makes my heart beat faster every time. How every time we kiss it feels like the first.

"I... I love you too."

"Don't say that if you don't mean it," he said firmly.

"No, no I do, Sebastian I do. I love you."

"I hope you know that I meant it as more than a friend kind of way," he chuckled lightly.

I laughed, "I know."

"Should we get out of here?" He smiled.

"Beat you to the car," I got up and walked out of the restaurant and he came after me.

"Move it or lose it, sister!" He sped past me and jumped into the car, turning it on.

"Does that make me the rotten egg?" I asked, sitting beside him.

"Yes, ma'am." He leaned over and kissed me. "The prettiest rotten egg."

He didn't let go but put his hand on the nape of my neck and I smiled on his lips.

"I want to take you somewhere," he said, pulling out of the parking lot.

"Where are we going?" I asked, out of breath.

"I have no idea."

Eventually, after a long time of driving, Sebastian found a little dirt road and took us off into a pasture of tall grass.

"Well, this is pretty," I said. The stars were brilliant tonight, and the moon was bright. If I'm being honest, dying won't be so bad. I get to dance with the stars sooner than I had planned.

"So how are you feeling?" He asked abruptly.

"What do you mean? About what?"

"Well, I know you're sick. Do you feel sick or anything?"

"Well, I always feel sick. I have headaches and pains and stuff. I always do. It's nothing new." I explained. It has been new though because in the past few weeks I've been in a lot more pain than normal. Probably because I'm off my medication.

Sebastian didn't say anything and he opened the back door and we laid down on the small bed. We could see out the back of the car and I started counting the stars.

"Just let me know when you want to stop," he said.

"Stop what?"

"This. Whatever is happening. When you want to go home and back to the hospital. Let me know."

"I never want to go back to the hospital," I explained. I knew at some point I would have to, but I would keep going until I needed to go back.

"Just... let me know."

I nodded and turned my head to kiss his cheek but he turned too and ended up kissing my lips. Sebastian rolled over and hovered over top of me, placing his hand on my waist and it sent sparks all over my body. I wrapped my arms around his neck and brought him closer. He bit my lip and I smiled, kissing him hard.

This moment. It felt so special. Something I haven't ever even known to be so intoxicating. I finally found the one thing more beautiful than the stars.

Being in love.
