alfie's song bleachers
LunaI woke up in a pool of sweat, my hair was stuck to the sides of my face and my heart was pounding. I was gasping for breath as I felt a pair of hands on my arm. I ran my hands furiously through my damp hair and felt Sebastian brush my hair behind my ear.
"Luna it's okay, calm down. Breathe." Sebastian's soothing voice calmed me down and I took a few deep breaths, feeling my heart slow down.
"What's the matter?" Sebastian asked.
"I don't know, maybe a bad dream? Why are you awake?"
"Well, I was going to get back on the road pretty soon and let you sleep, kill a few hours. You looked tired," he said quietly.
"Well, I'm up now," I sighed in embarrassment.
Sebastian laughed cutely and looked down at where his hand was resting on mine. He awkwardly chuckled and pulled away. It was like this unspoken rule. We both had some sort of feeling for each other, but we knew we couldn't. Keeping distance was the best thing to do.
"So what's on the schedule for today?" I asked, trying to make the situation less uncomfortable.
"Well, I was thinking of heading out and stopping at a restaurant to get some breakfast, then go to the ocean."
"Sounds good to me. I'm starving," I said.
"Okay. It's a date."
"It's a date?" I questioned.
"Um. I mean... like whatever you want." Sebastian smiled sheepishly.
I cocked an eyebrow and smirked. "Okay, it's a date." I climbed into the passenger seat, regretting that instantly.
I watched as Sebastian turned the key. His hand was shaking.
"Are you okay?" I asked, grabbing his forearm. He kind of ripped away, but his eyes were soft. He looked at me with a forgiving glance and sighed, closing his eyes. I waited for him to continue.
"It's the first time I haven't met with my therapist in like a year. I'm probably just having a bit of anxiety."
"Can I help in any way?"
"No there's nothing you can do. I'll be okay don't worry, Luna." Sebastian smiled half-heartedly and put on his seatbelt.
"Okay." I dropped the subject.
"Alright, to breakfast we go."
We made the bed haphazardly and changed into some better clothes before leaving. Sebastian in jeans and a white t-shirt, myself in some old mom jeans and an old band tee. Most of the clothes that Liza wore didn't suit me, but she had some items that were totally my style and I loved them. Especially because she seemed to have the same music taste as me, as I was clad in a Guns N' Roses band tee.
