Sebastian

"Hey, hun. Do you want some juice?" My mom asked, bringing in a glass of orange juice. She set it down on my desk next to me.

"Thank you," I smiled.

She sat on the edge of my bed, looking at me.

"Adam has been doing worse than you, I think." She chuckled light-heartedly.

"Yeah, he's taking this hard."

"Well, I had an idea."

"What?" I asked.

"What if you took him on a trip? It helped you. Maybe, if you take him on the same kind of trip you went on, it might help him."

"I would, but I have no money."

"I'll give you the money you need. I think that trip did you lots of good."

"Okay. That sounds kind of nice right now. I'm getting sick of this city already."

"Okay good. And, if you want, maybe ask Gus to come? I thought it could be a short guys trip," she said.

"What about school?"

"I know I didn't forget about school. I get you'll miss a lot but spring break is coming, and what's more important school, or mental health?"

I smiled at my mom and hugged her tightly. She rubbed my back and said, "now go tell your brother the big news."

I made my way to Adam's room. He was sitting on his bench under the window, looking out at the gloomy day.

"Hey," I said quietly.

He turned his head and then looked back outside. "Hey,"

"So, I was thinking about something," I said, sitting beside him.

He turned his attention to me. "What?"

"Me and you, we're not gonna get better if we mope around the house and sulk and cry. Crying is good but, we need to try and be happy,"

"Yeah? Well how, Sebastian?"

"We take a road trip."

He laughed dryly. "You're kidding, right?"

"No, I'm not. Mom gave me the idea. We can do the same trip I did with Luna. And Gus can come. It'll be fun."

"What about school?" He asked.

"The break is coming up anyways, and we need this, Adam. I think we all do."

"So, you're being serious. We're actually going to take a road trip and go with Gus. For real?"

"Yes. If you don't wanna go I guess that's-"

"-No! I wanna go, we're going."

"Okay. I'll text Gus. Pack your bags."

I left Adam with a huge grin on his face, ripping his suitcase from under his bed.

I dialled Gus' number into the phone on the wall. It took a few rings until he answered.

"Hey, Sebastian, what's up?"

"Hey, I just have a proposal for you,"

"You sound... happy. What's going on?" He asked skeptically.

"Well, Adam and I are going on a road trip, like the one Luna and I took. We wanted you to join us." I said, scrunching my nose, hoping for a good answer.

He laughed. "Are you serious?"

"Yes, dead serious. I'm gonna ask Miles too, he probably won't come, though," I said.

"Mm, I dunno Sebastian," he said.

"It won't be that long. And we're going to go at the start of spring break so we won't miss a lot of school. We will do so many things and I'll take you guys everywhere I took Luna and we can tell stories. It'll be good for us," I said.

"I have to ask my parents. But if they say yes, I'm in."

"Really? That's great, Gus. Okay, you ask and I'm gonna call Miles."

"I'll call you back soon. Have a good one bud."

I hung the phone up and took it out again, calling Miles.

"Hey, is this Sebastian?" I heard Miles voice on the other end, and screaming in the background.

"Yeah, hey Miles," I said.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Well, Adam and I are planning a little something and I was wondering if you wanted to come," I said.

"What is it?" He asked.

"We're gonna take a road trip like Luna and I did. Gus is asking his parents and if they say yes, he's coming. You in?"

"I don't know, I'm pretty busy with school and personal stuff at home right now," he said.

"That's exactly why we need this trip. We gotta get away and connect with ourselves again. We need a break. At least I do."

The line was quiet besides the yelling in the back, but then Miles spoke up. "Yeah, sure. I'll come. But my parents will for sure say no, so we gotta go one day they aren't home."

"What will they do when they find out you're gone?" I asked.

"They'll be pissed but that's their problem. I'm gonna get packing, call you later."

Miles hung up, sounding exhausted and angry. I shook it off and went to start packing.
