Sebastian

The hospital had told me that my parents wanted to speak with me but at home. I was allowed to leave the hospital again for once. When I arrived home, I made sure the car had a full tank of gas. If my dad was going to be mad about me stealing the vehicle, might as well give it back with a full tank.

I knocked on the door even though it was my own home. It felt weird and different to be standing on the other side of my own door, knocking for permission to come in.

Adam opened it and lunged at me, his arms wrapping around my chest.

"You're back!" He said happily. I smiled and ruffled his hair up and he pulled my hand inside.

My mom was in the kitchen, cutting up some vegetables and smiled at me.

"Hey, mom," I said. I walked over to her and she stared at me, then smiled a toothy grin.

I pulled her in for a hug and I could feel her sniffle against my chest.

"I'm so glad you're okay. You had me worried sick."

"What does dad think of all this?" I questioned, sitting on the stool at the counter.

My mom poured the cut-up vegetables into the pot on the stove and turned around.

"He was not very thrilled, Sebastian. Just prepare for a screaming match later okay? For now, he and I have decided to let you stay here for just a little while to see how things pan out."

"Seriously? You're letting me stay?" I said as my heartbeat started quickening.

"For a while. I want you to stay for as long as you want, but your dad is the boss. So talk to him about it when he gets home from work. Adam and I cleaned up your room and stuff." She smiled, turning on the tap to fill the sink.

"Thank you, mom."

"C'mon Sebby." Adam ran up to the stairs. "I wanna play Mario Kart or something."

"Okay." Before I had the chance to run upstairs my mom stopped me.

"Sebastian, I want to hear about your trip later, okay?"

"Okay," I smiled. I felt relieved.

Adam was already turning on the Wii and sitting in one of his bean bag chairs, handing me my controller. Once I sat down, it sort of felt like I never really left home.
