April's POV
I ran over to meet them. I wasn't joking about acting like a little kid for a couple of hours. I ran over to Adam then and said,"tag you're it." He looked stunned for a moment as I took off running across the yard. Then he grasped what I was doing and tagged Leo. Leo tagged Adam and Adam came running after me. He couldn't catch me,I was pretty fast. He went back and tagged Leo again. Leo came running towards me and of course caught up with me. Tag,I've got you,he teased lightly in my ear as he wrapped his arms around me and spun me around in a circle. I bent my knees up enjoying the feeling of flying for that one moment. I turned my head up and kissed him. Eww,you guys know I'm still here right,Adam called out but at that moment I couldn't care I just smiled and rested my forehead on his. Guess what,I said. What,Leo asked. You're it,I shouted and tagged him before running again. He went to Adam, who easily evaded him for a few minutes before getting tagged. We were all breathless when we decided we were done. I lay down on the grass and pile of leaves to take a breather. Adam joined me and Leo just watched for a moment. He went inside and came back carrying three bottles of water. I sat up instantly with Adam following my movements. We took a few big gulps of water before Adam asked,"what's next?" Let's build a leaf pile,I suggested looking up at Leo. Okay,he said and went to grab a couple of rakes. We built several big leaf piles and kept jumping in. Adam hopped on my back for a piggy back ride as I started to laugh with actual, pure joy. Nothing, not even cancer could take this moment from me. Leo came up then with his phone to take a picture to document this moment. He turned it on selfie camera to get in the photo as well. I was still mid laughter in one of the two photos. I knew him though and no matter what he'd hold onto these for forever. I was getting kind of cold so we went back in. With all of his bubbly,child-like excitement Adam shouted loudly,"let's play hide and seek." Okay,Leo and I both answered at the same time before smiling at each other. Adam ended up counting first. I walked upstairs and hid in a corner where he was least likely to find me. I heard as he began moving downstairs and opened one of the closet doors and heard Leo's surprise as he was found. They both began looking for me. It took them fifteen minutes to find me. By then, they were bored with the game. Adam's friend's mom was here to pick him up for the night. It was just me and Leo then. We were sitting at the table. I had a steaming pumpkin latte he made with the Keurig. I wasn't a fan of coffee but these were pretty good and it was fitting the fall season. Leo was having a regular coffee with cream and sugar as he liked it. When I was finished with my latte I asked,"Leo,do you know what we should do?" What,he answered. We should go get some pumpkins and carve them,it's mid September anyways,I said. Hmm,he said as he debated the idea. Please,I begged. Oh,why not,who could say no to that adorable face,he said poking my nose. He ran to our room to grab his keys and wallet as I sat, playing with my phone case and glancing out the window. You ready,he came back and asked me. Yeah,I answered and smiled reassuringly at him. We walked out and he locked the door behind me. I climbed into the drivers seat. This may be my last chance to drive for awhile may as well make the best of it. He looked surprised but didn't say anything. I had a beanie in his car so I slid it on my head and then put on my sunglasses I carried with me. He handed me the key once he was in the passengers seat. We had our seat belts on and I turned the radio on low. I backed slowly around and began making my way out the long drive. I took us to the pumpkin patch I remembered going to with my cousins when I was younger. It was a pick your own pumpkin type place. I pulled into a parking space. There was a few people mingling around but it wasn't packed. I turned the car off and took my sunglasses off. You ready to do this,I asked smiling at him. Yeah, how does this work,he asked. You mean you've never been here,I asked in turn, lightly teasing. Nope,he answered. Okay well you're going to push the wheelbarrow and then when we find the pumpkins we want they'll weigh them and then we pay and they're ours,I answered. Okay, easy enough,he said. We climbed out and he did as I'd said. We both found our pumpkin of choice. His was a little on the bigger size and my was around the perfect, medium size required. They weighed them and then he paid for them. We took them and put them in the trunk. I let him drive back home. When we got there,we took the pumpkins out and out them on the porch. I sat there waiting while he grabbed two knifes and a plastic bag. We began carving. I carved out the date when we first met. He made a face in his. I grabbed some LED candles as he cleaned up the pumpkin gunk. We sat them on either side of the steps. He turned back around and I walked up and wrapped my arms around him. I rested my head in the perfectly sized space made for me,April, that was between his neck and shoulder. He was surprised but melted into the gesture and wrapped his arms back around me. We just stood there together, hugging for a long time as the last of the sunlight faded away with the sunset. Finally,I broke the silence. Let's go in,I said. I could feel the tears coming I didn't want this to end. We both started toward the door and I walked in first.
